He probably gives the Cavs between 8-12 extra possessions every single game all by himself.

Other than one obvious reason, a big reason why the Cavs lost 50 games in a row (ok..not that many) was due to the Varejao injury. Prior to that they were closer to a 30 win team. He is such a good rebounder and help defender it’s ridiculous, and his non-stop energy and effort are still shining this year. His inside scoring and free throw shooting has also continued to get better, and knocking down the occasionaly open jumper.

I will miss him if he gets traded, but the Cavs should move him as by the time Irving and Thompson + 2012 draft pick are in their prime, Varejao will be getting too old. I fully expect him to be traded by the deadline barring injury. But you can’t give him away for nothing without regard as Kurt suggests. He’s a very good player.
