the idea for the the game was to emphasize shooting…Naismith who at 5foot 10inches never intended for the game to be played the way it is today…where’s the skill in throwing it down a peach basket?

Wow, thats one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. Why not just take away one of the most exciting parts of basketball? You know, there were three people who threw for over 5,000 yards in the NFL this year, maybe we should allow there to be 13 defensive players instead of eleven so there aren’t as many touchdowns? Give me a break. These players have been training to shoot on a 10 foot rim their entire lives. You can’t just raise the rim because people can dunk it. I think someones a little jealous because they couldn’t jump and never had the feeling of a dunk on a 10 foot rim and now thinks no one should.

Not much skill involved…just extraordinary leaping ability. If they can lengthen golf courses to make it tougher on the pros…don’t you think it’s time to raise the basket to 15 ft.?

I’m sure James Naismith would’ve thought twice before setting the height on the basket, if there were superior leapers in his time.
