Dwyane Wade utters two scary words: plantar fasciitis

Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade poses during media day at the team's training camp in Miami Reuters

Dwyane Wade has sat out three consecutive games with what has been described as a bruised foot, but in talking with Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel Monday he used some scary language.

“I don’t know, man, it’s just hurting. It could be three different things. (Plantar fasciitis is) one of them. The bruise is one of ’em. Maybe it’s a combination. I just know that it’s in the area of the plantar fascia and I know it’s bruised as well. Whatever it is, it’s just taking its course, taking its time to get healthy.”

Plantar fasciitis is a chronic foot condition, a painful inflammation of a thick band of tissue that runs the length of the bottom of your foot and connects the heel bone to the toes. It’s basically an overuse injury.

The treatment: Rest. Lots of it.

Which is the worrisome part. Come back to fast and it can come and go, lingering through the season. It happened to a lot of players over time, including Tyreke Evans last season. In a condensed schedule it would be harder to heal.

Now, maybe it’s just a bruise. Either way, patience is the key. With the Heat having gone 3-0 without Wade and LeBron James just basically pretending he’s in Cleveland South and dominating, Miami can afford to wait. You don’t need Dwyane Wade in January, you need him rested and ready in April and beyond.

Well if Wade goes down maybe Miami should bring in Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard to get a ring for Lebron.

  2. Gordon - Jan 9, 2012 at 8:20 PM

Don’t be ridiculous…he would need Kobe & Durant in addition to Rose & Howard.

  3. rodge1 - Jan 9, 2012 at 8:52 PM

Pat Riley could make that happen too

  4. lameasish - Jan 9, 2012 at 9:05 PM

    Hate on haters.

  5. Gordon - Jan 9, 2012 at 9:25 PM

Welcome to the hater’s ball! Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate!

    • comeonnowguys - Jan 10, 2012 at 11:23 AM

It’s not exactly hating until they actually win something.

Miami better be praying it isn’t permanent, he’s their best chance to avoid decades of upcoming embarrassment.

I’m a Knicks fan, but I think Dwayne is a better baller than LeChoke, if he can’t go, good bye championship.

The Heat should just sit him till its fully healed. I rather have a healthy wade come playoff time than the number 1 seed.

Going to have the #1 seed either way.

Too bad Lebron wasn’t hurt. I like wade better.

Best thread all year. I lol’d.

Rest him till about May, gives him time to shake off the rust and head into the play-offs healthy. LeBron and Bosh will get us there.

Good Morning haters, how’s life in loser-ville? Pathetic and hopeless as usual?

Gets his validation through a basketball team he watches on TV.
