first off this isnt a team that howard wants to go to but this is a team that can give what the magic want but if it does 2 things have to happen first they want to rent howard they need to sign a contract with howard if the deal is worth it and stoudamire himself is not good enough to send howard to the knicks either you bail chandler or a couple first round picks

Howard wants to play for the Lakers & they clearly have the most to offer Orlando. I’m just a realistic Knick fan. Our best hope is if Baron Davis comes back & plays at a high level. We need Shumpert to be a spark off the bench & most importantly we need this team to play solid team defense.

I would do that deal ASAP!! The Knicks will NEVER, EVER win a title with Amare and Carmelo as cornerstones of the team. They’re both offense first players who don’t focus enough in defense. Howard, with his defense, would change the mentality in NY. Melo and Howard would be a tandem to be reckoned with. The Knicks would still need another scorer but they would be much closer to a title contending team than they are now.

Why do you have to look at the Bulls, Heat and Celtics? None of the teams you’ve just mentioned won the championship last year. The Mavs, Lakers, Celtics, Spurs and Heat of old all had a combination of length and clutch perimeter players. I’m pretty sure Derek Rose ( or lebron or Dwade) would have a tough time getting to the rack if Chandler and Howard are roaming the court Your point is moot. May God have mercy on your soul.

Why Trade anyone the season is still early… the Heat got off to a bad start last season and picked things up midway through. Melo and STAT never had a full season or training camp so they’re still learning each other as well as Chandler. The offense isn’t the problem, unless Douglas is jacking 3s, the problem is defense and they’re couch doesn’t have good defensive schemes or strategies. More so than anything they need time together… making a trade makes the learning curve harder. And Melo as point forward is stupid… or not logical, he’s not LeBron. There should be more pick and rolls with STAT and Bibby cause it’s similar to C Webb and Bibby and that combo almost made the finals or pick and rolls with STAT and Melo. It’s still early so I’m not too worried… they could go on a 10 game winning streak last season the Knicks started slow.

could just be “smoke n’ mirrors” to drive up Howard’s value as suggested in the article. if it is true, man, what a huge gamble by the knicks.

anything crazy the knicks do…all signs point to…Isiah Thomas! Yes! Zeke is behind this possible trade! the secret cult-like pact he made with Detroit years ago…to always sabotage the knick’s efforts is still paying dividends. hehe…okay, i kid but its fun just bringing up zeke’s name.

The Knicks are driving up the price of Howard for the Nets. The Nets bragged how they drove up the Mello price for the Knicks and talked rex ryan style about how much they hated the Knicks.

This is a really poor decision by Knicks management. There’s almost zero chance that the Magic would accept any offer with Stoudemire as the main piece. This will only alienate Stoudemire and create more of a sense of panic within the Knicks team.

I wouldnt get too worried….this doesnt sound very credible to me. The only way the Knicks make this deal is is Carmelo has said he doesnt want Amare there anymore. Just look at it this way…if they trade for Howard and Hedo.. then either they have to send Tyson Chandler back in the deal or you have two guys clogging the lane that basically do the samething (though Tyson is a poor poor version). Would Orlando want Tyson? A guy that quit on the Bobcats and thought he signed to be in New York.. not Orlando. To me this sounds like the Magic try to squeeze some team they are close to a deal with.

I think Amare’s and Melo’s meshing problem has more to do with coaching than the players themselves. This Amare’s playing the “stretch 4″ and running the majority of the pick and rolls with Chandler is just nonsense based on D’Antoni’s need to have four 3PT shooters on the court at all times. Amare’s been one of the best (if not the best) pick and roll bigs in the league his entire career, who does each aspect of the pick and roll well (roll, slip, and pop). But because Chandler can’t shoot Amare’s standing out at the 3PT line like Ryan Anderson. Couple this with the extremely bad point guard play from Douglas and no wonder the Knicks look bad.

If youre the Knicks, you have to look at the bulls heat and celtics. Notice a trend? Elite guard play. Last I checked, Howard doesn’t defend rose. Way to figure out a way to neutralize the powerhouse that is johkim Noah. You’re headed to the finals for sure!

While STAT is not fair compensation for Howard because Howard is way better/healthier/younger etc… The deal could make sense though due to the fact that the Magic will lose Howard no matter what they do. STAT is at least under contract for the next 3 years and they could package howard with Turkoglu. The Magic would then shed salary, get rid of a bad contract and acquire a superstar who was an MVP candidate before he had to share the Garden with Melo. If they wanted the Knicks would probably even throw in a fields or Shumpert (who I would be devastated to lose).
