I completely agree, fan voting removes practically all of the suspense and excitement of the dunk contest. Blake would have won last year if he shot a 3 pointer.

The dunk contest, like the Celebrity game, is already overrated. The dunker with the most name recognition ALWAYS wins. Just look at last year's contest. DeRozan's dunks were good, but got low marks because he didn't use props, now he's not coming back. Javale McGee set world records with his 3 balls-1 basket dunk, and his 3 balls-3 baskets dunk, but he lost in the finals by a landslide. Why? Because everyone already expected Blake Griffin to win. His final dunk over the Kia with the chorus singing? While it did look cool, without the Kia or the chorus, it would have been an average dunk. Fan Voting removes any element of suspense because you already know who's going to win, not the biggest dunker, but the biggest name.

Same goes for the Celebrity game. Justin Bieber beat Scottie Pippen in FAN voting. 'nuff said.

no problem,

you already participated when you were younger and WON

thats why the great dunkers do it when they are young and still explosive

like Jordan, Kobe, Dwight, Jason Richardson, Vince, T-Mac, etc...

only player who is a great dunker that never did it....was , of course Lebron James.

With all the hops and athleticism of Lebron James, as a basketball fan I feel robbed,

with all respect , I wanted James to do it , he would have won,

however I also understand the risk, I dont agree with it, but I understand it,

if Lebron James enters the dunk contest and loses to say a Nate Robinson, how is he "king james" and that hurts the marketing of his brand

on the flip side, all that is irrelevant if he does not win a ring.

so really , James shoulda did it and can still do it.
