I always thought Amare was overrated in the iso-sets. He is not an efficient player when he has to create his own offense. He is average at best in post-up scenarios. His left hand is not very good either.
Amare doesn't have the ball-handling ability to make a move on a defender. His drives consist of putting one dribble down with his right hand and then dunking.
Compare that to Chris Bosh, who is like the total opposite in my opinion. CB is a great player to isolate - he has ability to drive both ways and has good enough ball handling ability to put some moves on his defender, but he is not the same roller and finisher as Amare is.

Amare might be one of the best pick and roll big men in NBA history. He is powerful and quick, and is a great finisher. He has a fairly good jump shop within 15 feet and is a well-above average free throw shooter for his size and position.

Those skills make him a monster in the pick and roll game, but you need a good PG to utilize those skills, which NY sorely lacks. Otherwise, it is possible to shut Amare down or at least make him inefficient.

Come on NY fans. You didn't really think Amare and Carmelo would make you good? The Knicks aren't going anywhere until they change the coach, get a point guard and find some players who play defense.
