If a great coach like Doug Collins couldn’t get anything out of Speights nobody will. Maybe some offensive moments but Speights doesn’t get it.

Yeah, generally 2nd round picks are useless, but not always. Lou Williams was a second round pick.

Definetely surprising. Big market teams like the Grizzlies and Hornets should not be stealing players from small market teams like the Sixers.

Marreese Speights is one of the underrated ball hogs in the NBA, particularly among big men. He makes Jamal Crawford look like John Stockton.

Speights has an average offensive game overall, above average jump shot for a big. However, he play no defense, is soft on the boards, and generally gets bullied by anyone 20 lbs lighter and up

As a sixers fan, I can honestly say I don’t mind them giving him away at all (that is what they did, 2nd round picks, even 2 of them, have 0 value in the NBA). He deservingly, was not going to get minutes in Philly, so give the kid a chance somewhere else.

Speights is a good offensive player. His jump shot is pretty consistent for a big man. I remember he had a 27-10 game in the opener of 2009. Unfortunately he doesn’t get a lot of minutes with Collins because of his poor defense. It made no sense for us to keep him because he is a talent and literally doesn’t play at all.

Assuming they get the two future picks, I’d also like to know what round and from whom. I’m guessing that the Hornets will not be giving up their first round pick unless it is lottery protected for at least 3 years. Memphis could be an unprotected 1st since they’ll be in the mid 20′s.

The Grizzlies have been in need of another big body since Darell Arthur went down. I hope this particular rumor involving Philadelphia is more about that than about Z-Bo.
