Of course it doesn’t matter if they like each other. You can find examples of successful “disfunctional family” types in every sport. But what DOES matter is if they can play together or not. Durant and Westbrook can’t. Durant is CLEARLY the leader of that team, and he needs a point guard who can help set him up. Westbrook is more concerned with getting his own shot than he is with finding ones for his teammates. It almost completely defeats the purpose of playing the point guard position if you take 17 shots a game, but can’t do better than a hair over five assists a game. The Thunder would do well to put Westbrook at the 2 and find someone who can facilitate both Westbrook and Durant on offfense and put that guy at the point.

Jordan, Bird, and Johnson were all leaders on the team and lead by example with their play and attitude on the court.Westbrook wants to be leader but he is very emotional to the point it throws off his whole game.

Shaq and Kobe is a whole different situation. Westbrook does not have the talent of Shaq or Kobe. With Shaq and Kobe you had one post player and one perimeter player. So there was less chances for them to step on each other toes on the basketball court. KD and Westbrook are both perimeter players. So when Westbrook tries to steal Durant glory it hurts them more than it helps them.

It matters on the court if Westbrook wont resign there. At some point I think they are going to have to move him because…unlike Durant.. he isnt a small city guy. Its hard enough for small market teams to keep one star….. I never really thought they would be able to keep two. I hope they are at least doing the leg work so that we dont see Durant toil in the 8th spot for years and years.
