Wizards get technical for playing ineligible player. Nice.

They are still the Washington Wizards.

Coach Flip Saunders sent Roger Mason with 3:27 left in the first quarter, according to CSNWashington.com. He promptly sank a nice little baseline jumper.

The problem — Saunders hadn’t put Mason on the active roster.

At the first timeout after the bucket the Wizards were assessed a technical.

The basket was not taken off the board but it was taken away from Mason and given to Rashard Lewis. So he continues to earn his big paychecks.

They are still the Washington Wizards.

Seems a little dumb to have someone on the bench, dressed to play, who is ineligible. You know, in case something like this happens.

Agreed. That is 100% inexcusable. “You aren’t active for this game. Make sure that you are geared up and be ready to go in.”

Flip Saunders is one of the worst coaches in the game so this does not surprise me. He is to coaching what Shaquille O’Neal is to rapping or acting.
