atlanta, indiana, denver and portland are undefeated with hardly a superstar between them. it would be nice if that mattered to the national media. then maybe folks from those areas would get excited. grow a fan base. etc. etc.

In 2007, the Heat were on their way to a 15-67 record and nobody cared about them either. Thats when it was made clear to all that every move/trade they made would be done with summer 2010 in mind, no exceptions. Nobody wanted tobolay here. Team stunk. Practices were too hard. Blah blah blah.

From 08-10, the Heat was a 500ish team was a one and done playoff team.

But they set themselves up so that in July 2010, the situation here was more appealing than NY, LA, Chicago, and believe it or not even Cleveland.

Get yourself a smart GM and let him do his thing without fear of being fired for having 3-4 bad to mediocre seasons.

Then your team too can have an over the top press conference celebrating 3 all stars signing with your team for less than max contracts. And then you too can endure nonstop hatred and bitterness directed at your team at a rate way out of proportion on PBT too. Then Your team can become the scapegoat for a nation of idiots to take out there anger and frustration in their own lives.

Did you see Drunk Santa during the Heat/Mavs XMas game? That guy is a grown man and he should be ashamed of himself. But he's the personification of Anti-Heat Nation. Angry, bitter, sad, drunk, pathetic, batrassing, self-loathing....

Good luck.

That's why the nba bugs me. Ty's a monopoly. All the big teams get press and there is no chance for the little guys to get the big free agents or any wins. I root for the heat because I don't have my home team to root for. There's something wrong with that.

It's not about what the "sports media" is interested in. It's about what fans are interested in. We get as many stories as we do about stars and big market teams because that's what gets the most page views.

Like it or not, the NBA has always been a star driven league and the league is healthiest when big markets are doing well.

90% of the posts on this site have to do with a superstar or a major market team. clearly the sports media isn't the least bit interested in the "other guys" of the nba. is there any reason for a fan from a "lesser city" to even pay attention?
