Kobe’s teammates expect him to play on Christmas Day

Dec 22, 2011, 10:58 AM EDT

Kobe Bryant, Luke Walton AP

Of course Kobe Bryant is going to play on Christmas Day. He is essentially the Black Knight of Monty Python fame — cut off his arm and he says it’s a flesh wound.

So while he sat in street clothes wearing a splint Wednesday night, his teammates were not buying it.

Check out these quotes from the Lakers, via Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register.

“He’ll cut his wrist off and play with one before he misses Sunday,” Fisher said late Wednesday night….

“I think Kobe will play,” Andrew Bynum said. “It takes a lot for him to miss a game.”

Does anybody really expect Kobe to sit the nationally televised opener out? Now, if he keeps shooting even though the torn ligament in his wrist has thrown his shot off is another thing all together. But he will play.

Anyone catch the game last night? As shown from this picture, it looked like Luke Walton was the only guy chumming it up with Kobe. Kobe and Luke. Luke and Kobe. Now that should be a reality show.

You could have Kobe have to move in with Luke because of the divorce, and Luke just happens to live with his parents still. So Bill and Luke Walton are all trying to give Kobe advice on his personal life, and Kobe has to put up with their crazy family antics, involving getting lost on a shopping trip. Then, because of some crazy misunderstanding, Kobe has to commentate a game in place of Bill. Possibilities are endless!

If I would have known three weeks ago that this is the Laker team I would have to watch for 66 games then I would have voted to continue the lockout and cancel the season. They are pitiful and can someone tell me, why is Luke Walton still on the team?

    Highly disappointed fan
