This is Miami’s worst nightmare! Rip Hamilton will take a ton of pressure off of D Rose and Luol Deng. He is a Ray Allen type moving without the ball. Not as good as Ray on 3′s, even though he isn’t a slouch either. But he’s better than Ray on Mid Range Jumpers and going to the hoop & getting to the free thow line. I predict Deng will become more of the post up 3 point shooter with Hamilton in the lineup with Rose. And that can be lethal with Keith Bogans now coming off the bench and raining 3′s, ala Vinnie “Microwave” Jackson. Deng will take big #3′s like LeBron James away from the rim and out of double teams on Rose. Or they will pay a steep price. Noah, Boozer, Gibson and the big 7’3″ bruiser from Europe should be dominant on defense and scoring in the middle and on putbacks off the glass.

Miami can only hope that Da Bulls get upset along the way early in the playoffs by the Knicks, Celtics, Orlando or Atlanta. Because they are a matchup nightmare this time around for the Heat. Rip occupies Wade. Deng occupies James, or is always wide open to slash or dish to Rip, D’Rose, Boozer or Gibson. And Boozer pushes Bosh outside where he jams up the top of the key area for Wade and James and becomes totally ineffective as a rebounder. So far this is the move of the preseason IMHO. Go Bulls! Even though I live in Boston.

It's a smart signing by the Bulls. It won't break the bank and it gives the team championship experience and veteran leadership. Now, LeBron and Wade wont just clog up Rose's passing lanes as Hamilton's a proven scorer from the 2 spot who can get hot in a hurry. Let's see if he can maintain his conditioning like Ray Allen does running around those down screens every game.

Those voices in the blogosphere who think that Rip Hamilton is not going to help make the Bulls a more legitimate contending team this season simply do not understand how the NBA game actually works. When you put a player like Hamilton in the line-up with a collection of players like Chicago has currently:

STARTERS: Rose, Hamilton, Deng, Boozer and Noah
KEY KUBS: Watson, Bogans, Brewer, Gibson and Asik
RESERVES: Korver and Scalabrine
EXTRAS/OUTS: Lucas, Pargo and Butler

then, it only serves to make your team deeper and better ... by pushing everybody else at the OG-position back a slot ... when the playoffs roll around.

In all likelihood, Richard Hamilton's thought-to-be "poor individual defense and rebounding" will have as much of a negative effect on the Bulls' performance as does Ray Allen's on the Celtics ... which is, in fact, almost negligible, given the number of other strong defensive-minded players on both Boston's and Chicago's rosters.
