They can NOT add any players and no free agents want to go to Orlando (or any other small market team). With Howard and Hedos contract they have backed themselves into a corner anyways. They have no assets.. at all… that any other team wants. So how exactly can they convince other teams to trade them quality players for nothing? They have made mistakes that put them in this situation but really thats how being a small market team is. The only players that have ever been good for the Magic they have drafted themselves. They had to massively over bid for Lewis. It sucks but in the NBA no big free agents ever go to small market teams… no matter who is there. Its impossible to solve this problem in the short term. Get Brook Lopez… maybe he will stay long term (better than what you will have when Howard walks)… get the drft picks and hope you get lucky. The sooner you do this… the better your pick this year and thats better for the team in the end.

And Denver can still compete. Ty Lawson, Aaron Afflalo, Gallinari, Nene’, and whatever else parts they have can compete. They were a top 5 seed last year. They are in better shape than they were when they were hamstrung by the Melo drama last year.

I agree with this. They brought all of this on themselves. But I disagree on the Denver part, Yes they got some B-listers in return for one A-list superstar. But had he left for nothing their team is still worse off than they would have been if they complete the trade. Simple as that. And the knicks look ok at best. They cannot compete against the Heat, the Bulls, the Celtics, or the Magic (if they keep Dwight.) Tyson Chandler won’t change that.

or you could have just kept DWIGHT by putting some SERIOUS BALL PLAYERS and contenders around him to win a ring…

jason williams who was done in miami years ago,

getting ride of Hedo the 1st time was dumb

so many errors that lead a superstar from rolling out on your team.

my point is the Magic should NOT even be in this position to begin with had they made smarter and wiser moves.

INSTEAD of talking about Dwight Howard getting traded , they should be talking about how great & complete of a team they have and how they believe they can contend for a title THIS YEAR. not trade howard this year.

trading your star for a bunch of B- list players,

hows that gonna work out in Denver?

bc the Knicks are LOOKING GOOD THIS YEAR…. Denver has 2 players in china, some B listers, some bums, who knows what they have.

ur better off trying to keep your star , keep him happy, and you can only do that by putting players that are winners and serious around him, but the magic did NOT do that and hence they PUT THEMSELVES in the position they are in by getting worse every year since the NBA finals 2009 showing…

sell your orlando Disney fan base on Dwight Howard or Brook Lopez and whoever else you wanna throw in the deal, a tuna salad too . . .

While I agree that Lopez is sub par right now, he is still young enough to grow into a serviceable player. The two years prior to last season he averaged 8.1 and 8.6 rebounds, respectively. A far cry from Dwight Howard. But it’s still better than letting him walk and getting nothing in return. Look at Denver. The players they got in return for Carmelo were not individually better than him, but collectively they went to Denver and made Denver better than they were. The sum was better than the parts. If Howard leaves Orlando at the end of the season and leaves the Magic empty handed, they have no one to blame for themselves.

Let’s see, trade him and get at least a serviceable young center, draft picks, AND i can get Hedo’s contract off the books, or keep him, let him walk, and get absolutely nothing in return.

The obvious choice for any GM to make, even a GM as stupid as Smith, would trade him. We saw what happened in Cleveland and Toronto. And we see what happened when denver did the smart thing. Getting value back would make the team at least semi competitive. Getting nothing would certainly make them one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference.

if orlando trades howard

they will be irrelevant for another 10 years like after Shaq left,

i wouldnt trade him, if he leaves after the season so be it,

but trading him for anything or anyone at this point will get you nothing in return

Brook Lopez? are you serious? Lopez should not even be in the same conversation as Dwight Howard at any point in time.

why not just bring in Rasho Nestervic while your at it .
