Dalembert is one of the many free agents/centers that will get overpaid this year. He's getting offers much higher than the MLE. And with Miller staying, the Heat will be over the cap so they can only offer the mini MLE, about 3mil/yr.

No. Dalembert won't be there. But I do agree that he's exactly what they need...a mobile/athletic def.rebounder& shot blocker who can finish, but also isn't too good where he expects to have a significant role.

Smart not to amnesty a $5 million contract now. Let's say (God forbid a million times, poo poo poo) that in the next few years, either Wade, James, or Bosh gets hurt or just plain sucks. Better to amnesty a $20 million contract later than a $5 million contract now.

But now that I said that, let's forget I said it.

I agree.
Chalmers is an above-average athletic defender who can hit 3s. Maybe he should be working to up his 3pt%, but at least he has a history of hitting big shots. What else would Miami want from their PG?
If Chalmers gets injured, they should call up anyone from the D-League who can defend. The PG position is not a matter of emphasis for the Heat. They will live and die by the hands of Lebron and Wade no matter what..

They should put all their focus on a centre. A legit centre who can rebound, defend and finish will be a massive upgrade to all the useless bodies they have currently (Joel is too small to start), and will release the massive amount of pressure on Bosh to be that guy.

Dalembert would be a terrific addition in that sense. Obviously Deandre Jordan will be too expensive, but is there any chance the Heat can land Dalembert?

As much of a head-scratcher this seems..I think it's a good idea because of the FA's today and the shortened season. He will be hopefully be back on the court sometime in early-mid January. Do the Heat really want to give the whole mid-level to Battier, 33, who's "defensive-stopper days" are behind him? There will be many serviceable wing players on the cheap.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CENTER AND PG??? It looks like the Heat will go the vet-minimum route again, but it can't be worse than last year's center rotation of Joel, Big Z, Dampier & Magloire. Bosh, Joel, maybe Curry, maybe Kwame, doubtfully Pittman will get minutes in the middle. Also with Bosh in the middle, it gives them less depth at the 4, so I could actually see Juwan Howard back.

still don't have an answer at PG, but Chalmers should be their priority right now. There's no concern about finding a ball handler and distributor with Wade&James.
