It hurts to listen to all this Howard trade mess (he looks awesome in Orlando black and blue). I can't think of a truly good enough haul that any of the more interested teams have that would convince me to be ok with a trade. NJ's picks would be too far out to be very valuable, nor is Brook Lopez really all that great. LA can only offer an injury prone Bynum, a choice of Odom or Gasol, and some late first round picks.

Honestly, why are people not more interested in a possible Paul to Orlando trade? Of all the reported suitors for CP3, Orlando's package would be pretty good. Paul and Ariza for J.J. Reddick, choice of Brandon Bass/Ryan Anderson, and Jameer Nelson plus picks. The money works out and New Orleans cuts close to 4 million before the amnesty. Hell, they could flip Okafor for Turkoglu straight up and save a few million on the cost of the amnesty. Even without the Okafor, Turkoglu thing, it still works. New Orleans gets a still young Nelson, a bargain chip in Reddick, and a solid role player along with picks for Paul and an overpriced Ariza. This is a far superior package then what most of the other teams could offer.

If you're Otis Smith, why not go all in and pair Paul and Howard. At the very worst, if they both opt out, he clears tons of cap room to go out and bid for another superstar to rebuild with.

Disagree here. What Otis did was take a very calculated risk. He knew his franchise player was 50/50 on leaving or staying, and he made a few bold moves in attempt to get Orlando back to the finals and convince Howard to stay. If Arenas and Hedo had played well last year everyone would be talking about what a genius he was.

Yeah, the gamble failed, but I can definitely understand making a move like that rather than sitting idly by with a team you know isnt good enough to contend. VC and Rashard weren't getting it done.

Honestly, Danny Ainge did the same thing last year and that didn't work either.

This could be the WORST advice the Magic could take. Why in the world would they give up Dwight anywhere but right near the trade deadline? Teams are going to be salivating for Dwight at this point and will only increase the possible value we'll get for Dwight. Magic need to WAIT... get the most you possibly can for Dwight. Brook Lopez and two future low first rounders is far from the best offer we'll see for Dwight. Learn by what Denver did last year... They got the a TON value for Melo because they held out.

The rule states you cannot trade your own first round pick in consecutive years. Meaning that if they package picks they would have to be well into the future (unless they acquire other team's first rounders). It's the Ted Steipen rule from when he tried to run a team into the ground as an owner and kept giving away picks.

They'd have to get pretty creative. The salaries on this one are a mess. The Bulls would probably have to take on at least one bad contract (Turkoglu). You could do something like Boozer/Noah/Korver/picks for Howard/Turkoglu. I would even go farther, and try something along the lines of Boozer/Noah/Deng/picks for Howard/Turkoglu/Redick because the Bulls need multiple shooters, and I don't value Deng as much as they claim they do.

After Bynum finally got his knee operated on correctly and stopped getting patch up work he didnt miss a game last year, the only reason he missed games last year at the beginning of the season is, because he got surgery late claiming he was at the FIFA soccer championships.
Dwight Howard to Celtics.

They need a center. That would make a starting line up containing all All Star players from last year (has a team ever had all their starters in an All Star game before?)

Take a salary cut for one year, get a championship, then trade off everyone, pump up his salary and rebuild around him, Rondo, maybe another player.

Yeah, I'm dreaming, but what a sweet dream that would be :-)

I think they will trade him to LA.....the Clippers, not the Lakers...in return, they can get Deandre Jordan, either Eric Gordon, Al Farouq Amani and a couple of first rounders for Dwight....in addition, the clippers will have to take Hedo Turkalou's contract back.

of course, they could trade him to New Jersey for Brook Lopez and a couple of 1st rounders, but I would also ask for one of their point guards, either Jordan Farmer or Sasha Vujacic as well

You can give up hope on that one. Dallas has zero tradeable assets. Their most tradeable asset (Nowitzki) is untouchable and too old to be considered the centerpiece for a rebuilding effort. And that is their best trade asset. If he is traded, it will come down to New Jersey or LA (both teams), with LA having the big advantage because that is Dwight's stated prefernce

I'll always said Bynum is more unfortunate than injury prone. Both times he was injured was due to 215 plus pound falling on his knees. Don't know if many or any players could survive that. Greg Oden on the other hand has knees made of baby powder. Guy gets injured with nobody touching him.

Dwight Howard on almost any other team would definitely raise my interest in the NBA before March. And since that's what the NBA needs, I predict this definitely happens. I just hope it's a team that I can actually "cheer" for... and not another team with obviously no chance.

Hope Dallas gets him. Howards humor with Cubans antics would be great, Cuban would allow him to do anything he wants. Dirk only has a couple of years and then Howard will be the superstar of the future with all the big money going to him until he retires. Dirk and Howard gives a great chance for more success. Dallas has a history of being able to put lesser pieces around a couple of guys and having success. Dallas could give picks, young talent like DoJo and RoddyB, maybe a veteran like Caron, and/or a center back in Haywood along with some money for Haywoods contract.

Otis Smith needs to be fired ASAP. His moves lacked foresight and even a little (a lot) of logic. Now they've gone from a young NBA Finals team to an old, over the cap squad who is about to unload their franchise player, probably the second to third best player in the league. What a waste! In consecutive seasons they have traded young assets like Courtney Lee, then last season it was Gortat, and now Howard. What does it take to get fired in the NBA? Though I think it would be great for the NBA, especially the Eastern Conference if Dwight went to Brooklyn, its hard for me to imagine the Magic organization accepting a deal of Brook Lopez and picks for D12, especially if Andrew Bynum and Odom are being dangled. But the way team's front offices are run nothing will truly surprise me.

One question Kurt, New Jersey traded Favors and 2 1st round picks to Utah last season correct? So if they were to package picks to Orlando which years would they be? I know in the last CBA you couldn't trade picks in consecutive years, did that rule stay in the new CBA because if so, wouldn't the picks Orlando would receive be 3 and 5 years from now? Essentially making those picks very late 1st rounders because a DWill and DHoward will be hitting their primes together around that time.
