I don’t know the details this time around, but in 2005 teams couldn’t re-sign a guy they released for the length of the original contract. If that’s the case this time (and I can’t imagine it isn’t), they wouldn’t be able to sign him through either 2014 or 2015, depending on how player options are handled.

Actually Miller is a pretty good rebounder for his position and a good shooter when healthy, but I agree he’s injury-prone and an average defender. But, the Heat need the quality depth as there is no one behind Lebron.

Miller is a one dimensional, average shooter !

He can’t defend ” NO BODY ” !!!
He cant out rebound ” ANYBODY ” !!!
And he gets taken off the dribble by EVERYBODY !!!

Get rid of this injury-prone dude !!! He was all hype anyway !!!

So you’re basically saying you’d give Mike Miller a raise, since you’d be paying 100% of his old contract and giving him a new one. No thanks. Plus I seriously doubt you sign a guy after using the amnesty on him… don’t know all the rules of the new CBA

If I were the Heat FO, I’d use the amnesty clause on Miller and attempt to re-sign him 2 months from now, when he’s fully healthy, at a lower price. Obviously theirs no guarantee he’d re-sign with us 2 months from now, but it’s worth a shot and at the very least he frees up some cap space in order to sign Samuel Dalembert, Shane Battier, and possibly Grant hill or Caron Butler.
