Chandler had his 1st big contract in Chicago and they dumped him prematurely to save money and then wasted more money–14m/yr– one dimensional and the worst free throw shooter in NBA history–Ben Wallace. This free agent season is a test for the owners–stop offering max dollars to players who don’t deserve it!(Troy Murphy sat on Boston’s bench with expiring12m/y contract–who was dumb enough to pay him this much?) Chandler should get a big pay day for his performance in Dallas but the max he should ever get is 10m/yr, which is less than some dumb owner is likely to pay Nene who will likely be a bust for 13m/y.

Hopefully for their sake Dallas will be able to hold onto Chandler as he was a big piece for them defensively in the playoffs last year. If not, another team is going to make a big mistake and overpay for his services.

Is it just me, but this guy only really shows up in his contract years. This is what is wrong with guarenteed contracts. He’ll be overpaid by someone, then play average for a few years, get traded to a team that thinks they can get more out of him…..we’ve seen this play out a million times.

He should make more than Perkins…But Perkins got overpaid. But hey…a center today that can catch a ball and defend is like Moses Malone.

Basically the Mavs are probably looking to pay Chandler around what a player of his limitations and injury history should be bringing in and Chandler’s agent has convinced him some moron GM is about to offer max money.

Sadly the agent is right. And Chandler will be a future Stretch Provision free agent.
