He is a tweener because they only draft small forwards every year. Iggy, Turner and Young all should play the 3.

Iggy sucks. Keep Thad. Thad is a 3, as is Iggy, as is Turner. Keep Turner at the 3, let Thad play 4, trade Iggy please!

The Sixers would be dumb to let him go. As others have said: the Sixers need move Iggy. Thad Young is a stud who will continue to grow given the opportunity to grow under Coach Collins.

the guy is nothing more than a really good 6th man. He’s the definition of a tweener and almost never plays the 3 spot. He rarely gets plays called his way because the skill set isn’t there. He isn’t a shooter outside of 15 ft and he isn’t a great ball handler. He is a low post player with the size of a small forward. I am a big Thad fan, but if you expect this guy to join your team and become a star, you are going to be disappointed. If he can improve his shot and ball handling, maybe, but right now he’s just a really good power forward trapped in a small forwards body. If the Sixers don’t match a big offer to him, i’d be sad, but i’d completely understand. You don’t overpay for role players when you are trying to build a winning team.

As I’ve said before. You trade Iggy for an expiring and a 1st. You use the amnesty clause on Brand. You don’t pick up Nicioni’s deal after this year. Bang, you just cleared up PLENTY of money. Doing the above, they still have Holiday/Turner/Young/Speights/Hawes as a starting 5, with LouWill, Meeks, Vucivec and Kaponon off the bench (I’m assuming the expiring for Iggy would be a big).

That gives you just over 30 million in cap space next year, after giving Young something around 10 million this year. They have nobody of importance expiring after this season. So you would go in to next off season with a core of Holiday/Turner/Young/Vucivec, with Hawes/Williams/Meeks/Speights off the bench, and 30 million to make a BIG splash in free agency.

However, this is the sixers. So they will waste their amnesty on Nicioni (a move that does NOTHING but save the owners money), keep Iggy and his ridiculous contract, and let Brand play out his contract. Meanwhile, they will be lucky if they can hold on to the 7-8 seed each season for the honor of being bounced in the first round
