Doesn’t he know that Hebrew schools are on the decline and have been for ages? It’s all about yeshiva day schools now. And I can name a few that would be glad to accept donations.

Perhaps he became more attuned to that side of his background due to his relocation. I know that if I am in West Roxbury ….the Irish section of Boston, I am aware of my Irish heritage. If I am back in my home area of Upstate NY, I am more aware of the German side. Don’t be so cynical. It’s only natural.

Okay, the truth is that Amare’s mother converted into judaism , like Sammy davis Junior. Now, if Amare was truly thinking he would become a Falasa from Ethiopia a truely Black Jewish community, but like so many Black people in the States, we become infatuated with integrating ourselves into White society or a sub society within White society, which is what the Ashkenazi Jews are, instead of upholstering Black society or a subset within Black society.
