Larry Hughes missed the memo, shows off house and cars

Nov 14, 2011, 1:39 PM EDT

There has been a conscious effort during the lockout by the players to not show off their lifestyle. They did not want a repeat of the “we make a lot of money but we spend a lot of money” public relations disasters from the last lockout. It didn’t go over well then, it would be a bigger mess now. The players have done a good job of not showing off the bling this summer.

But Larry Hughes didn’t get the memo.

The video above is from the veteran guard’s photo shoot with Delux Magazine and he shows off his home and cars. If the players really want to know why so many fans say “just take the deal on the table” they should just watch this video.

Nice house, though.

Ridiculous. This lockout is so they can maintain that lifestyle. What a muddled world of self athletes in general live in. I wish I could live a life of such indulgence during these crap economic times.

I’m pretty certain Michael Jordan and Mark Cuban have even larger collections of cars and homes…

Exactly. I have no idea why we vilify only a specific group. The owners’ lifestyle makes the vast majority of the players look like Oliver Twist.

Larry can thank Danny Ferry for most of that unearned cash

Don’t Hate! It’s his money and his to do with whatever he wants to do. H.A.T.E.R.S. = Having Anger Towards Everyone Reaching Success!!

Still, not quite as bad as this from Kenny Anderson, which is my “fondest” memory of the 1998 lockout…

Awesome link. Reminiscent of Patrick Ewing’s infamous “I make a lot of money, but I spend a lot of money” line.

WOW. I really don’t know what to say about that. Kurt I have been going after you for your player slant but even you have to say this was the worst thing possible. This right here is what’s wrong with basketball a guy like Hughes getting paid like a superstar but what has he really done.

Paul Pierce bowling in his house was pretty good.

He’ll be bankrupt in no time. He probably didn’t have a pot to pee in when he was growing up and made all this money, bought Mama a new house, got him one too, got a lot of cars and diamonds in all his orfices, and now what? NO JOB !!!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy isn’t even a star. The players actually think the fans miss the meaningless regular season. We don’t.

First of all Larry Hughes isn’t even playing anymore. Secondly, he worked for a living he can spend HIS money on what he wants. Work on your jumpshots instead of hating on this man.

Good for him. It’s his money I guess he spend it on whatever he wants.

The stupidest aspect of this entire scenario is that this is all money that came from basketball fans.
