I don't think he's going anywhere just yet. It's all about how he recovers. If he can get back up to upper30s or 40% on 3pt FG he's still exactly what the Heat need. He's a great rebounder, playmaker, can play the 2 and 3, and most importantly he KNOWS THE SYSTEM. Not saying Battier couldn't do what he does, but contenders want to hit the ground running. We didn't get to see the dream Heat line-up basically until the Finals.

The mixture of an injured Miller and Haslem, a mentally injured LeBron, Wade and Bosh brought them to within two wins of the championship.

That's also what I have read: Miller would get all his money, but the Heat wouldn't have to count it towards the cap. The owners would undoubtedly love to have no-guarantee contracts like the NFL, but that would the union would fight to its dying day to keep that from happening.

It's not about the money, it's about the near certainty Miller is gone and he'll have to find a new place to play. Since he'll be playing for the minimum while Miami pays out the balance of the full MLE he signed, there should be plenty of takers.

And that's the sad thing about this whole new CBA. It was always just about the money. If they were serious about putting out a more competitive and entertaining league, as opposed to dragging down the successful teams to the level of the crap ones, they would've made this fight about guaranteed contracts instead of BRI and luxury taxes. But hell with it, sign the damn deal already and play ball.

It was my understanding that, even though they would be waived from the team, players affected by the amnesty clause would still get their guaranteed (or, at least, most of what they were guaranteed) money. They just wouldn't count against the team's cap anymore...? If that is the case, why would Miller be in a hurry to sell his place (aside from the fact that $180,000 in annual taxes is crazy)?
