Im rolling with Kobe on this, lebron is way stronger, faster even more talented, but with age comes wisdom and Kobe has obtained that. In a fast break lebron has that advantage but half court its Kobe’s game, Kobe is still the Best player in basketball today

couldn’t agree more. Same age Kobe wins by 10 in a game up to 11. Don’t even try to compare these two, its night and day. James is overrated stat filler. Kobe is a champion. And for the record I’m a sixers fan and hate both players.

I’d also take Kobe, but because he has a total game, where LeBron still can’t post up consistently. Playing one on one isn’t about jump shots. It’s about backing someone down and playing around the basket. Kobe has a ton of moves and can score with both hands. Both are good enough defensive players to cancel that aspect out, but for moves around the basket, I’ll take Kobe every time. It’s exactly what LeBron has to work on to fill out his game.

It would be interesting to see the stats and win-loss records when Kobe and Lebron go head to head. From recent memory, it seems Lebron has had the edge, both with Cleveland and Miami, though they aren’t always matched up against one another. I like both players, but I’ll take Kobe

I think John Wall made an interesting comment, that if Lebron actually USED his size and strength effectively in a one-on-one game, he would have the advantage. If he cowered in the moment and settled for jump shots, advantage Kobe. Kobe is a dead-eye assassin though who truly hates losing. Can’t say the same for Lebron. That is why I would never pick against Kobe.

Kobe wins hands down as he is a better defender but more importantly quicker and better at the jump shot which is the critical difference in their games. Sure LeBron could back him down but to win one-on-one you need a jumper and Kobe excels with that difference maker. Wouldn’t it be great if someone put the money up for a charity tournament of one-on-one games with the best NBA players while we wait for a deal?

Are you forgetting that a healthy Kobe is one of the best defenders in the league? He has been banged up and overused. I see Kobe taking a tight one. If it was Kobe from 7 years ago (which would make him the same age as Lebron), it wouldn’t even be close.

It’s pretty sad that the NBA, or at least the media coverage for it, has to stoop to this level to generate something for ‘fans’ to read about. Shows how pathetic the decline really is surrounding interest in the league. (Sadder still: I’m reading it and posting something.)

If the game were 5-on-5 and LeBron and Kobe guarded each other, Kobe, hands-down. One-on-one with no shot clock, LeBron wins because he just backs down Kobe until he’s doing nothing but dunking or shooting short bank shots on every possession. LeBron is too one-dimensional to win a ‘real’ game against Kobe. His outside shot, and midrange jumper for that matter, are inferior to Kobe’s… by a long way.
