NBATV ratings plummet during lockout… don’t you like “Teen Wolf?”

Oct 14, 2011, 3:02 PM EDT

NBA TV has been as hard to watch as a Shawn Marion jump shot during the lockout.

Banned from showing any current NBA players, they have been relegated to showing nothing but classic games. No summer league games, no shows previewing the upcoming season, no shows talking fantasy hoops, no drop ins on training camp.

Which led to these tweets from TV Sports Ratings:

NBA TV had an average audience of 11,000 viewers last week (fewest ever). Among measured ad-supported cable nets, only Fuel (7k) had less.

Since start of lockout, NBA TV has aired Fish/Saved Pitt 16 times, One on One (Robby Benson) 14 times & Teen Wolf 8 times.

Last night’s NBA TV lockout coverage consisted of back-to-back airings of Robbie Benson in One on One: 11,000 viewers at 9p & 7,000 at 11p

It’s okay, I can’t watch One on One either, but what do you people have against Teen Wolf? You could watch that 8 times a week and it wouldn’t get old. It’s Michael J. Fox at the peak of his powers.

Come on people, it’s that or the 1963 NBA finals in black and white again.

Question. Are they not allowed to show games with current NBA players? Or is it a matter of them not showing newer games to spite the current NBA players? I would think the NBA has the rights to all their games.

If they showed more games from the 2000s to current day I would want to watch the channel more. Sometimes ill watch older classic games, but I rather watch more recent games right now.

Licensing of player images was tied to the last CBA, so they have removed all images from and can’t show games with any current players.

I’m surprised they’ve got that many.

Not opposed to watching old games. They should show Space Jam too.

because watching the 1963 nba finals would be awful!!!

these classic nba games have been awesome and have shown me to appreciate players i never was able to watch.

I’m fine with the old games…I like watching past HOFers play the game. These movies, though…

There needs to be a Fish That Saved Pittsburgh Marathon until the NBA Lockout ends.

It would be great to have a Fish That Saved Pittsburgh Marathon until the Lockout ends!

Aren’t there any other, better, basketball movies they can show? I know He Got Game is out (Ray Allen) but how about Hoosiers or Glory Road or … Air Bud?
