Sixers should use their exemption to cut Iggy. Unless you can move him for an expiring, in which case you do it with Brand. Nicioni is only a player option after this year.

So if you cn't move Iggy, you wind up with about 13 million in cap space (after re-signing Thad) after not picking up the option, and cutting Iggy. If you can move Iggy for an expiring, you have about 30 million after re-signing Thad. You still have Jrue/Turner/Young/Speights/Hawes, with Williams/Meeks/Vucevic/Kapono coming off the bench (I'm assuming the expiring they got back would be a big). They'd be worse off this year, but all of the young guys would get PT to develope, and they'd have everyone signed next year, and 30 million to make a huge splash in free agency

As far as Ellis, unless his contract is up at the end of the year (don't think it is), no thanks. The sixers are, with or without Iggy/Ellis, a team made up of young up and coming players. I do not want to bring in a guy who is going to chuck up 20-25 shots a night, while playing weak defense. In what way does that help these young guys get better? Iggy for an expiring big man

Monta Ellis isn't a star. He is an over rated gunner who wouldn't fit the scheme and the defensive ethic that Doug Collins is trying to instill. I'd be way happier trying to develop Evan Turner into a player than giving his minutes to a no defense gunner. Monta Ellis would not make the Sixers relevant at all...they would regress as a team. He isn't a two guard...too small to defend that position and too selfish to play the point. Furthermore, I would take Jrue Holliday over him going forward in a second.

im not a sixers fan but as a knicks fan you need a market like Philadelphia to do be good for the NBA, Philadelphia has not been relevant since the Allen Iverson era, they need a star player for sixers fan to get excited. I know the sixers made the playoffs last season but we all know their not a contender if they don't acquire a star. Name 1star on sixers current roster........elton brand or Andre Iguodala i don't think so.

then you should expect the sixers to stink from years to come:
The 76ers owe Iguodala approximately 14 million dollars this season and next season, and Iguodala has a $15 million player option for the season after that.
