Colbert Report puts together ad backing NBA owners

Somebody needs to get the back of those poor, struggling NBA owners. It’s not me, but somebody should have their back.

Fortunately, they have the Colbert Report.

Some think the nightly Comedy Central show is satire, but the NBA owners will take the support anywhere they can get it.

Hat tip to Eye on Basketball.

As a fan of a mid market team I don’t care much about bri and revenue sharing but I do care about the cap system. If the players continue to flock to large market teams we will soon enter into another era of unwatchable basketball. NFL developed a system that pushes parity and that system rewards teams that make smart decisions, not ones that spend the most money. I honestly hate that one of the best ways to ensure that every (well run) team gets it’s time in the sun is to restrict player movement but honestly there is no way a team spending 45 million in salary can compete with a team spending over 100 million… Institute a salary floor and ceiling, make the Kings and Lakers of the world more equal monetarily and everyone should be satisfied (more competitive nights boost turnout in towns like ATL and players win because cheap teams need to pony up, creating more jobs).
