Rondo says Chicago has the most “obnoxious” fans

Can you have bulletin board material during a lockout?

If so, Rajon Rondo gave some to the Bulls and the Chicago fans. Not that they need it — Boston and Chicago have a great rivalry already. One that was rekindled by the knock-down, drag-out seven game series from the first round of the 2009 playoffs. That plus the Celtics are a fading title contender and the Bulls are on the rise. It all comes together nicely.

Still, Rondo said his peace. He was interviewed by Red Bull at one of their King of the Rock events and had this to say about the toughest fans. (Hat tip to Eye on Basketball.)

The most obnoxious crowd? “I’d say Chicago. Ever since a couple years back in the playoffs, me and Kirk [Hinrich] got into it and they’ve been booing me and heckling me ever since.”

As for Rondo’s home court, the TD Banknorth Garden? “It’s very intense, even on Sunday games,” he said. “Sunday afternoon, it’s still alive in the Garden.”

Bulls’ fans don’t want the other team lighting up Hinrich. Only they can do that.

The Bulls don’t need the bulletin board material, they have Tom Thibodeau to yell at them if they don’t run to get a drink of water during practice. Bulls’ fans on the other hand, they will remember. Rondo just added to his reception next time the Celtics head into the Windy City.

wow, did you really just fix your mouth to say that? You took a cheap shot on Kirk one of the overall good guys in a league of primadonnas. somebody needs to give this kid a dictionary, booing you for giving a guy a cheap shot isn’t obnoxious, giving a guy a cheap shot and expecting to get away with it, thats obnoxious………see you soon Rajon!

    love, Chicago

Don’t forget that he cracked Brad Miller in the face from behind on what should have been an uncontentested game 6 tying layup, too. Rajon Rondo is one of the biggest pieces of crap in the NBA.

(Rondo grabbing Hinrich and throws him to the announcers table)

(Rondo flagrant fouls Miller — who needed stitches!!!)

Those are why he “thinks” Chicago fans are obnoxious.

Either that, or because of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdyRB8iT_NM

I have mixed emotions on this one. I must admit, I am a Rajon Rondo/Boston Celtics fan as well as a die-hard Chicago Bulls/D. Rose fan (first and foremost, of course). Being from the Chi, I know how hard we can be on our rivals and our own teams when they cross us. So, Rajon gets a pass on this one, he was just being honest about the “toughest” fans in his own opinion, and honestly: I agree! Chicagoans can be hard on anybody!! So, let’s be real with ourselves, we ARE hardcore people. I still would have like to seen the Bulls (1st) or the Celts kick the snot out of Miami. Still not happy about what D. Wade caused to happen to Rajon in the playoffs last season. . .that image will never leave my mind. Let’s hope we get to see our favs play at all this season, so far it aint lookin good. GO BULLS!!

As a big chicago fan i can say i no long boo ronda, I scream “all day” when he shots. I don’t think there has ever been a worse shooting point guard in the history of the NBA. So Ronda, shut up and keep shooting and the bulls and their fans won’t have anything to worry about.

No we don’t!! I’m from Chicago and I’ve ripped on the fans by saying “these guys should be kicked out of town and be placed in a golf tournament!!!!”

Rondo is just lucky that he did not dislocate his right arm or it would have ruined his sex life

    Douche

I think is simply sad and annoying at the same time seeing someone as talented as Rondo taking such cheap shots, specially when he don’t need it, he can shine on his own.

  8. jimeejohnson - Oct 8, 2011 at 9:46 PM

Rondo cannot make foul shots and has no range from outside. Defensively he is one tough SOB, and he penetrates and dishes off as well as anyone. Celtics need offensive firepower that he cannot provide. They need a guy like Dwight Howard to team up with Rondo, kinda like Shaq did with Kobe except Kobe shoots daggers.

Y’all a bunch of idiots. What did he say that was so crazy?? Sports is about rivalry and annoying fans, everybody and they mama knows the Bulls fans are obnoxious just like Laker fans. So stop being so freakin sensitive, Rondo spoke the truth. Period
