But it was never a money problem. Sometimes people on both sides of a deal need time to step back and think about it.

To say “Minnesota has been a notoriously cheap franchise. Owner Glen Taylor has a mid-market team and he ran it on a budget” is both unfair and wrong. Taylor has never denied a general manager the money to acquire or keep someone they wanted. Kevin Garnett $120 million (contract forced last lockout), Flip Saunders $5 million per year, Latrell Sprewell major money last year of contract and offered $21 million for 3 yrs at end of his career, Joe Smith guaranted a contract against the rules and that killed the francise. There’s more but too many bad mistakes to keep going.
