That game was considered the national championship until Houston ran into NC State…Many people said it was the greatest exhibition of inner city basketball ever…Guy despite having some great athletes did not get into HOF because as one commentator once somewhat rudely put it he couldn’t coach a fish how to swim.

That’s because it was taken in 1987. No high-def lenses around then. Also, the whole entire point of the graphics in 2k11/12 or any other sports game is to mimic reality.

Correction – On that Louisville team, it was Milt Wagner and Lancaster “Flash” Gordon, not Darrell Griffith…my bad.

Those of us of a certain age not only remember Clyde Drexler’s pro career with some fondness, but also his collegiate apprenticeship with Guy Lewis as a University of Houston Cougar.

At the time, the reigning kings of college basketball were Denny Crum’s Louisville Cardinals, a/k/a The Doctors of Dunk, led by Darrell Griffith (a skywalker in his own right).

The Houston Cougars countered with Phi Slamma Jamma, led by Glide, a young Hakeem (then misspelled Akeem) Olajuwon, and a lot of really athletic supporting players.

Their game was EPIC. There was about a two minute sequence in the second half where the Cougars literally dunked ten times in a row on Louisville. It was brutal for the Cardinals and it firmly established the Cougars as the premier above-the-rim team in college hoops.

Plus, what a nickname…Phi Slamma Jamma? That’s hot…

Valman61….You are showing your lack of historical knowledge of the game. His nickname was ” Clyde-The- Glide- Drexler ” . Meaning he could glide thru the air, from the free throw line as this ” REAL / NOT FAKE ” photo shows you.

Blake Griffin jumped over a car that was parked directly under the basket. I’m not saying he’s not an impressive player/ jumper. But after watching Dominique, Drexler, Jordan, Gervin and many others that floated from the free throw line, I was left unimpressed. Do a search for Drexler dunks and be impressed !

As I tell all the ” new skool ” kids, do your research ” youngster ” before opening your mouth and inserting your foot because thats the definition of a fool !

The pic might be enhanced, but Clyde was definitely holding his own weight during that NBA season and during that dunk contest… either way, very nice picture!
