the “team concept” only works when the boss is making money…. unless there is a bunch of new billionaires somewhere willing to toss money away these owners need to make money or there wont be any teams for these players to make 7mill a year playing a game for.

look at the hornets and the hawks…two playoff teams that didnt/dont have owners people arnt jumping up to grab these teams…what’s that show….. something needs to change if we want 31 teams….and the players want “what’s good for the future players” well if they don’t cut back on the money they(players) get the league will cut team which means cut players which means not good for the “future players” so what is the real goal of the players a healthy league that is sustainable….or some fat pockets for the current guys for a few more years?

57% is a lot. And the players said they would take a cut, but if revenues rebound and do great because the players are out there treating fans well, why shouldn’t they get their share of the increased receipts? You know, a TEAM concept. The team does well everybody does well.

It sounds like the owners are trying to bust the players for their own poor decisions. I am not a fan of the players, and tend to side with the owners, but it doesn’t sound like the owners are not in any hurry to do anything until games are missed and players are missing paychecks.

Nor sure who’s right and who’s wrong. 57% sounds like a lot, so players won’t get a lot of sympathy from the public but owners cant blame players for running their businesses poorly. Having said that, I don’t think we know enough to form an educated opinion. It seems to me though that there is enough money in game to make everybody happy.

Good bye basketball…. I can gurantee you this doesnt get settled before we lose all of next season…. I love the game and the players, but the sad thruth is that there is no way this gets settled this year

The owners need to open their books to show where their losses are coming from. It is hard for me to believe that the player’s salaries are the root cause for teams losing money (except for teams like Dallas who have willingly opened up their wallets and spent over league caps). I think the owners are looking to the players to fix other monetary issues that the owners have created, like paying way too much for their team (like the Wizards). Seems to me the owners have a lot of issues to address, like revenue sharing, before they should look at players salaries. The owners should be meeting with themselves to resolve issues before they look at player salaries, not the other way around. The players should not be asked to take less money, so that the owners of the Wizards and other teams who have overpaid, can recoup their losses. No one forced them to purchase a franchise for more than it is worth.

I loved watching Mo Evans play for the Wizards this year, there was no quit in him. He didn’t toss in the towel just because the team was struggling….and he helped out the young guys on the team.

yes Mo people do come to see the players….and just like any other job the workers do most of the work and the owners get the big money…. But Mo what happens when the team is losing money ??? are you “players” going to give the owners money to keep afloat?? No you could give a crap…because you will get a job with some other team…thats the difference… the owners make more money because they can also lose more money.

im for the owners…maybe not the deal they are asking for now but im sure that is just the first bid and they will meet in the center …but closer to the owners i would guess
