Remember, the Eastern conference was not as good as it is now. Admitted they gave the Spurs all they could handle; but again the COLLECTIVE talent on those pistons team was quite something. Chauncey was the glue and leader; but again that is not HoF.
If he and Melo can make some big noise in the ECF’s; that should strengthen his case.

The hall is based on achievement & contribution to the league. therefore cb4 should be a in the running based on those great piston seasons

this is tough. chauncey was full of moxie. a guy that makes his team better. the “anti-tracy mcgrady” if you will… hmmm, i’d like to see him in the HoF though i understand people arguements why he shouldnt be there.
i saw that somebody compared him to robert horry…no, no…horry was never the alpha-dog on the team…billups was. horry was a great situational player. billups was a gamer. i’m saying all this and I’m the biggest Lakers fan.

Very good player…yes.
HoF worthy….no.

More of a leader; but not the player who could carry a team on his back.
Having said that if he gets the Knicks to ECF(s) from the suddenly talent-rich conference; he should be in.

No. No, no, no. Listen, The Hall should be reserved for the elite only. If they lower the bar to get him in then they might as well let a whole bunch of other guys in that don’t belong. Chauncey is a really good player. Good. Not great. The Hall shouldn’t be a joke, and letting him in would just open up Pandora’s box so to speak. Hell, we”ll be talking about letting guys like Larry Johnson crash the party.

+ Alonzo Mourning and Reggie Miller into that list. By the way, I think the 04 Pistons should be honored. They faced KB+Shaq+Payton+Malone in the finals and totally slaughtered the Lakers. That’s really Ubuntu.

Without doubt, Chauncey was a leader wherever he went (including NYK). However, before he gets inducted, we’ll have to let Shaq, Duncan, Kobe, Gary Payton, Mutombo, Kidd, Nash, KG, Iverson, Pierce, Nowitzki, and maybe Chris Webber, Ray Allen get in first. Considering how “international” the HOF has became, Yao Ming and Tony Parker may have a better chance … Oh Well …

There’s no way Horry should get in. He was just an average / below average player who was lucky enough to play on some really great teams.He made a lot of huge shots in his career, but honestly he just pails in comparison to your average hall of famer.

I think the hall should be reserved for the most elite of the elite. I really don’t think Billups fits that description.

Robert Horry does belong, he was one of the most clutch role players in history which is why he was able to pick up not just rings in LA but in San Antonio too

Chauncey is an above average team leader in a league with supertar team leaders who will get in to the HOF on bigger name recognition than him alone.

Chauncey is a good player, but not a HOF player, but if Yao can be in the HOF, it doesnt really matter anyways

its really 50/50. you could make the case because of those Pistons teams that he lead. pistons haven’t been the same since. also you could say no because he doesn’t put Stockton type #’s up and he is too much of a shooter. it could go either way

HoF is for GREAT players…not good players…i know there are people like that in the HoF’s but it needs to STOP and stop now!….In no way is Chauncey HoF material…unless its the good player HoF

Yes!!! If Alex English is in so should Chauncey!!!

Plus, the Pistons were at one point a Conference Finals contender or better every year until they did the stupid thing by trading him for Iverson. Then he went to Denver and they went to their farthest round ever in the Western Conference Finals!!!

Plus, people keep talking about how the Pistons were truly “a team” and with many players from the 1970′s “teamwork building” Knicks in the Hall of Fame he definitely belongs!!!
