Silly post.

Mature adults do NOT get into physical altercations with other people over mere words. The kind of behavior Beasley and Artest displayed is what you would expect from middle or high schoolers, not grown men.

Grown men have the self control not to get into fights unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Michael Beasley would do well to remember that he’s a regular person, too. It’s no more acceptable for him to respond to taunting/mocking in a physical manner than it is for the rest of us.

Exactly. Suddenly you are making a few million a year because you can ball and you must instantly become invincible to words. No.. that doesn’t happen, we are all humans, and things will get under all of our skins. Some people handle it differently, and just because they all make big money doesn’t mean they’re all going to handle it the same way.

Even Durant looked like he was about to blow up on that guy at the game in NY.

sorry, but I don’t really feel for this guy. Beasley should know to just ignore it, but at the same time, he is human, and these people sit in their seats at games and their heads grow and they think they are invincible. The way people act at games can be despicable sometimes- you would never “heckle” someone face-to-face in any other setting so why do you think it is appropriate at a basketball game?

Kurt Helin seems to be a ‘basketball players are thugs” kick. And he obviously doesn’t know anything about Streetball games.
Streetball comes from the ghettos, not from Helin & Co.s country clubs. That Quince guy probably wouldn’t have heckled Beasley as much if the sportswriters weren’t there; on the regular streetball games, you don’t flap
your mouth a lot unless you’re willing to back it up. Instead what you see here is a situation where the guy flapping expected to be able to hide behind the presence of Uptown sportwriters who think that these ballplayers should act like they have skirts on. Quince is lucky that SOMEONE ELSE in the crowd didn’t go after him much more rudely.

It’s like having someone throw a cup with soda in it at you from the midst of a crowd – and you’re expected to just
bow your head a say, “Thanks youse, kind suh.”

Wonder what Kurt Helin would do if some called him a name and then threw a drink in his face while he was with his buddies in one his hangouts…..

Not taking Beasleys side here, but in a overall general point, people need to realize basketball players are people too. People fight. One of these days another Artest situation is going to happen, and it is never pretty.

Respect among humans doesn’t exist anymore, and I haven’t been around long enough to know if it ever did.
