That sounds really easy to say, but David Stern and the owners need top level players like Rose, James, Wade, Nowitzki, Howard, ect… for thier product to be as profitable. Players have plenty of leverage in all of this, as proven by the CBA they had in place before it expired. It’s a player driven league and even if a lot of pure NBA lovers (me included) were to just want to see basketball, it sill woudln’t pocket the owners near the money.

They need each other.

Apparently Durant, and the players as a whole, have forgotten the Golden Rule… he who has the gold, makes the rules. Whether they like it or not, the players are nothing more than “employees” of the owners… and since when has the tail ever really wagged the dog?

The owners will give (a little) only to the extent they feel like giving. After that, they’ll go hire new employees. Sorry, but the era of unions having any power at all is over. Like it or not.

There’s a lot of Developmental League guys itching to suit up in NBA uniforms and even if it’s an inferior product, as the NFL scabs proved, people will embrace them to a certain degree. Miss a few mortgage payments and the “real” NBA players will come around in short order… for whatever the owners are willing to pay.

If I’m an owner, I’d say, “screw you; here’s what you’ll get. If you don’t like it, learn the phrase ‘paper or plastic’… quickly.”

Shut up Durant. It’s not like you’re making a stand for a righteous cause. NBA players are overpaid, plain and simple. I understand the owners have a stake in the blame, but under this current model a lot of NBA franchises will fold. Also, holding out for as long as they can would kill the league’s momentum built up by the last few seasons. The fans won’t back you for long Kevin if you’re making a squabble over $ sound likeyou’re fighting for a moral cause..
