As a Nugs fan, I could probably live with this. Felton has already indicated that he wants to be traded and isn't going to be happy coming off the bench all year, and his deal's up after this season. He's paid too much to come off the bench anyway-- may as well move that salary and get some compensation. I'd rather get another proven vet in return, but this will probably work better for Denver's salary structuer anyway-- they just made qualifying offers to Afflalo and Chandler, and they're going to have to redo Nene's deal if he's going to stay in Denver. And that's really what's key for them this off-season. If he comes back, the rest should fall into place-- and adding a talented young four also makes a ton of sense in that scenario.

Movgov and Koufos should grow into an adequate rotation at C, allowing Nene to slide back to the four. Galinari at the three and Afflalo at the two, and Chandler can compete at or back up both positions. If they're stuck with Harrington's contract, he can at least back up the three and four, and provide some scoring off the bench. Leaving a quality young PF prospect and a competent backup PG as the most pressing needs. So they draft a player like Biyombo (who gets a couple of years to develop behind Nene), and either draft a PG in the second round or add a vet in free agency.

A scenario something like that would work for me. It was apparent from the first that Denver wouldn't be keeping all the players they got in the Melodrama deal along with all their own upcoming free agents. If Felton's going to be a disgruntled presence, I'd rather move him and take a chance on a young big with upside. Clearing that salary now will make it easier to re-sign other players that we do expect to be here long term, and it makes sense to try to get all of your young building blocks now, so they can play together for a year or two before really hitting their prime.

I think is would be a good move for the Kings. The city and ownership wants to keep the Kings in Sacramento - so they have to tr to get some players into town that will excite. Felton could be that person with his shooting ability. He is a RFA after next season - so why not take a chance on him - everyone says the draft field is weak.

Good trade for both teams. Felton is still young and has proven that he is an effective point guard in the NBA. Plus, the Kings wouldn't have to pick up a combo guard in Kemba Walker or Jimmer Fredette here. For the Nuggets, they'd get younger in their front line with the #7 pick and clear the path for Ty Lawson, who is ready for a bigger role.
