I think this would be a horrible trade. A true sixers fan knows what trade they will make. They will get the injury prone big man making over 10 million with his best days behind him. If the sixers are smart they would look for better offers and dont force the trade because of the lockout. Iggy no good here in Philly but he carries a lot of trade value.

@barkley4life. Drmonkey is right. Kamans is expiring after this season so sixers will have more money to spend next offseason with that deal then the Ellis deal. If it was contract for contract then the money and years would be the same.

Where in the he’ll did I say trade Iggy for a potential superstar? Ibaka is a superstar? How is my logic mind boggling, you want to make a MAJOR trade without having any idea what the future CBA is going to be.

For a team that at best is a 5 seed in the east and closer to 6 through 8. Develop Turner, Holiday, if you can trade Iggy for young talent then do so, trading him for a backup center with injury problems is ridiculous. For an expiring contract that may still not give you the cap space to sign quality free agent?

Harden for Iggy is a tough sell, but from OKC stand point they have to get ready to pay Westbrook and Ibaka and Harden. They aren’t keeping all three.

If they can package Iggy to move up in the draft like what’s has been reported, I would drive his ass to the airport today.

Why in the hell would OKC trade Harden for Iggy? Of course Kaman isn’t a long term solution. Ideally, they would also find somebody to take Brand’s contract then they would be free of those two burdensome contracts. Then and only then could they maneuver. I love your notion, hold out for some young potential superstar and draft picks. That is not going to happen.

My point exactly, expiring contracts are gamble and ultimately worthless if you can’t attract free agents. Sixers need players, they aren’t a superstar away. Jrue Holiday has star potential but outside of that you don’t know. I like Turner more then others but he’s a couple years away. Move Iggy for some picks or a shooter(you like Harden and I wouldn’t mind Ibaka) and just keep building. No need to panic Iggy and Brand will be off the books in back to back years.

Until you know what the CBA is going to be it’s ridiculous to trade for Kaman’s expiring contract. He’s not a long term solution.

So if you trade Iggy for Kamans contract, and the new CBA lowers the cap to under 60 million which is being proposed and your already tied to over that where is your flexibility.

The length of the contracts is the key difference. What part of that do YOU not understand? Kaman’s contract is two years shorter. It gives them greater financial flexibility down the road to possibly sign a star. It isn’t rocket science. Stop replying with nonsense to try to prove you are right. Everybody on here knows that you are wrong. It is cool. Just admit it and move on. You say you have been a Sixer fan for 25 years. I don’t believe that at all. Just do the trade…I want to see the Clippers become dangerous! Making the west more competitive, it showed this year in the playoffs….Now add a more dangerous Clippers…that I can love even more. Who cares about contracts…. did this guy just say AI9 is “Great” at getting his own shot ?? Really ??? If that were the case with his defense he would be better than Kobe.

The truth is AI9 can’t create a shot. He is an over hyped wing player who can’t shoot as well as i do (and at 5’11 and white and about a 15% shooter in my drive way). AI9 is the most overrated player in the nba. The only teams he would fit with is the Lakers and OKC. AI9 needs to be a third or 4th option to be good. He is NOT scorer and IMO (i only watched him every game his whole career) he is way over hyped on D. When Turner was in this year they only lost a tiny bit on D and Turner is a way better scorer.

Any team that is not allready stacked with talent that trades for this guy is dumb. I think the best deal for the sixers would be a guy like Harden from OKC or a big. I am not a fan of getting a guy with and expiring contract because for all we know by the time the elague starts back up these contracts might not be guaranteed anymore. So i just don’t see the point. I think the sixers should do everything they can to trade with Minn. for that second pick. Take D. Williams and put all the young guys on the court with Brand who played better than he was given credit for last year and hope they all grow together into winners.

When two contracts have differing lengths to them, and are for different amounts of money relative to the salary caps they affect, they are NOT considered to be a “contract for contract” situation. If you can’t see, or comprehend, the differences in these situations, you might want to consider taking that remedial English course yet again.

I think I understand the trade process…again I repeat…if the Sixers trade Iggy for Monta Ellis and bubble gum wrappers with no other teams involved its CONTRACT FOR CONTRACT….

If they trade for Chris Kaman and an Eric Bledsoe throw in…ITS CONTRACT FOR CONTRACT….Player for Player….

if they stick to their guns and ask for more that is different but to only end up with those two players and nothing else substantial your better off holding onto Iggy.

Without knowing what the new CBA is going to be trading Iggy for a contract that could ultimately only be cap space and not know what the cap rules will even be is a TERRIBLE move.

Kaman has an expiring contract at the end of next season….so it is not contract for contract. In the NBA, the salaries of the players being traded have to match up to a certain degree. If one of the teams has salary cap space, then they could eat a larger contract player. Lets say Iggy makes around 14 million per season. You could not trade him for a draft pick unless the other team has the space to eat the difference between the contracts.
