Pau lost in the playoffs…then looked at his two championships rings…what did the Grizz do? Lost then looked at an empty trophy case. I like the Grizz and despise the Lakers but that’s just a dumb comment…Oh ya the Cavs should leave Rudy alone and build through the draft…Good luck Memphis…

im tired of non-basketball ppl talking about things they know nothing about just to talk about them. Dan Gilbert did nothing wrong in lashing out at Lebron james for his “decision”. He stood up for my city in a way that will make him forever beloved in cleveland bcuz he spoke the truth and didn’t back down from being played like a fiddle. Lebron James already has his ohio pass revoked in every part of northeast ohio and every true cavaliers fan has Dan Gilbert’s back. With that said, any NBA superstar should run to play for an owner who gives u everything u want and who isn’t scared to fight for the team and the fans, but if u decide to stab us in the back u better believe Dan will get at u and you’ll b sorry.——->see Lebron James. What’s not to like!!!

Rudy is fresh off signing a new contract last July. IF the trade ever does happen the Cavs at least know they have experience and a player that could potentially help the Cavs get out of the basement. for hte Cavs to trade to take over his contract would not be detrimental to the team at all like LeBron’s contract price would have been. By getting Gay, and potentially having the #1 and #4 picks (pending they don’t use those as trade bait), the Cavs could be on their way to building a solid foundation again.

Thank you, Matt. That pretty much sums it up.

And just because your owner wants a player, doesn’t mean he’s available. Cleveland has nothing of value to offer the Grizzlies for Rudy Gay, especially with this being one of the weakest drafts in years. While I agree with one of the comments that Rudy’s not quite a max contract player, I think he will be. And that’s what it takes to keep players in a small market (Cleveland fans should know this).

It’s not gonna happen, guys. Imagine if the Lakers made the finals without Kobe (quit laughing, it’s an analogy). Would people say the Lakers should trade him because they don’t need him? It’s RIDONK. The Grizz would have beaten OKC if we had Rudy, and then who knows?

Did we have a dream season? Maybe. Can we repeat it? It’s possible. Could we repeat it if we don’t have Rudy Gay? Hell no. He may not be the “best player” on the Grizz, but he’s the star. And you can’t win if you trade your star for a case of Coors Light.

(And for those that would point to the Pau Gasol trade as a similar deal, we got the rights to Marc Gasol, a draft pick that turned into Darrell Arthur, and the money to sign Z-Bo. So, in retrospect, that was a much better deal for the Grizz. What’d Pau do in the playoffs this year? I forget…)

Why? Do you think they’ll trade the #1 pick for him? That’s an even dumber assertion. Also, the Cavs GM said the trade exemption cannot be packaged with a player, I don’t know if that applies to picks as well or not.

The Cavs have a 14.5 mil TPE from Lebron leaving. Memphis needs salary cap relief to sign Gasol. Don’t be surprised if we get Rudy just for the TPE. I know it sounds crazy but, the owners are going crazy about the idea of a hard cap.

Yeah, because I’m sure the first thing a player thinks about is their owner. The fact is these guys don’t care so long as they’re getting paid.

Anyway, back on topic… As a Cavs fan, I really don’t want Rudy. He’s a nice player, but he’s on a max deal. He’s not a max player. The Cavs should use the Thunder as an example. Stick to drafting guys and low money deals, then when the core looks ready swing for the fences.

Bringing in Rudy this offseason would pretty much guarantee the Cavs a low lottery pick, at best. Better to suck for a couple more years and rack up top 5 picks.

The #4 and Hickson doesn’t seem to be enough to get Gay to me, not sure Clev has anything more to offer. I doubt Memphis trades him, or its going to take a lot especially with the weak crop of draft players.

The guy the the owner wrote the letter about is pretty much despised and disrespected by as high a percentage of NBA players as he is by fans nationwide.

If Dan Gilbert was guilty of anything of anything with the Lebron James circus it was that he gave the circus too much and didn’t hold the circus accountable.

Dan Gilbert is a great owner to play for. And Byron is a great coach to play for. And he Cavs pay top dollar along with some of the best perks this side of Mark Cuban.

That letter means nothing to real players.

There was nothing wrong with the letter Gilbert wrote.Having and showing a passion for something is not a bad thing.I think it showed players actually how bad he wants to win and will do anything to do it

You know none of these guys have forgotten about that letter the owner wrote after “The Decision”. I have a hard time picturing anyone wanted to go unless they are drafted. Dan Gilbert is going to feel a little bit of Karma himself this offseason.
