Don’t expect Brendan Haywood to play in Game 5

Officially, Brendan Haywood is a game time decision for Game 5.

Officially, I have a chance of getting a date with Minka Kelly. Both of these things have about the same chance of happening.

Which is to say, don’t expect Brendan Haywood to play in Game 5 Thursday night for Dallas. Which is what Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas tweeted Thursday.

The Mavericks will not officially shut the door on Haywood playing, in case that water they ordered from Lourdes shows up and a miracle happens. But Haywood himself said yesterday his strained hip flexor should take five or six weeks to heal and trying to play on it now just means no lateral movement. Which was not really a strength to begin with, but now Chris Bosh is blowing past him for easy buckets and Dallas can’t give those up.

But they miss Haywood’s steady play while Tyson Chandler rests. And if Chandler gets in foul trouble… just hope that doesn’t happen, Mavs fans.

We’ll tell you when it’s official. In case you are scoring at home.

I’m still in awe that LBJ flopped in game 4 w an injured Haywood guarding him!

Bosh blows past the guy like he is a statue. He is was so hurt he only played 3 minutes of the game and likely won’t even suit up for the rest of the series. But the so-called “greatest player on the planet” just falls over when Haywood didn’t even do anything! It was kind of hilarious, kind of sad, and kind of pathetic.

Hopefully the Mavs brass sent that on a loop to the NBA offices, considering Lebron is probably gonna pull something like that a few times with all the driving he’s probably gonna do this evening. It definitely worked once with them finally calling a lane violation on him last game.
