You obviously have not been watching Chalmers all year if you consider him a good defender. Maybe he is “good” in comparison to Mike Bibby, but he really isn’t all that great. Just has some highlight defensive plays with his gambling. Just look at the way CJ Watson was torching him in Bulls series. CJ Watson.

He does have the length to become a good defender. But he still needs to learn to use his feet better and to stay within the system and not gamble so much. If so, he can be a better version of Fisher (more capable of finishing his drives which Fisher was notoriously bad at).

What Chalmers does have is a fearlessness to take big shots. He will never wilt. Which with some more consistency can be a great thing and get him into type of role that the Fisher’s, Paxon’s, and Horry’s of world have thrived in.

Mario Chalmers…don’t be an idiot. Follow the Derek Fisher plan….hit big buckets on championship team and write checks on and off the courts while the Heat win Championships.

Anywhere else and your a backup on a good team and an avg. player on a bad team.
