How many centers can Dallas overpay? Let’s consider the list so far:

Brendan Haywood – $55 million
Erick Dampier – $73 million
DeSagana Diop – $31 million
Raef LaFrentz – $70 million
Shawn Bradley – they paid him about $58 million over 10 years

So Chandler will be wise to stay… he’ll get another huge payday and will then turn into a turd like he was last season with the Bobcats. In fact the Bobcats will probably trade for him back when Dallas realizes what a huge mistake they made.

They’ll have the mid-level exception for about $5.8 million, although they have other needs besides starting center. Also MLE could be changed with the new CBA.

There’s little chance he’d go there. They don’t have the cap space for adding him.

A team like the Heat will be very enticing for Chandler, he is one of few missing pieces for Miami. I hope he stays in Dallas, but temptation might win him over. Can’t blame him if it does.
