I don't think the first two years were a good test. The first year he had crap, the second year the squad was upgraded a little bit, but several guys had recurring injuries. The center position is filled by 2 guys that are inadequate, and same for the shooting guard position. You get two decent guys in those slots and then start looking at coaching. What - you think that banged up, no talent squad from last year was capable of 30 wins? They didn't even know each other. They were clabbered together on the fly after dismantling the whole 2010 squad, then thrown out on the floor to introduce themselves to one another. It was a revolving door to the disabled list. And that 15 losses at the end? It shows you that after Love, we don't have much. That was when he was injured. No, this team needs more talent upgrade than it needs a coaching change.

One thing you guys don't mention in Rubio's skill set: the kid can drive to the hoop. No, he can't shoot, but in Europe they controlled his game too much. I don't think he got much opportunity to shoot. They always had him setting the table for guys they tabbed as shooters. It had to be frustrating for Ricky. I bet Rambis gives him a strict regimen of shooting drills. He helped Love perfect his outside shot, shy not? Shooting's the easiest skill to learn in basketball; you just have to do it a lot. Even if the best he becomes is a Jason Williams, I'm happy with that. He & Luke will be pretty good together. As far as Rubio running the offense, it DOES matter about having the ball in his hands whether it's a limited time or whether he's pounding the rock. We have to cut turnovers, and he's a good handler.

Well, Thor-ish guy, there are a few factors at play here. I agree with most of your points, but not all of them. Here is what I see in Rubio:

Pros (for triangle):
Always two steps ahead of the competition mentally. He thinks and plays so fast he'd be able to catch the roadrunner in the first episode. He'll be just fine dishing the rock to the open threats the wolves possess on the fly. I know you can't debate that one so we'll move along.

His size suggest he'll be able to move off the ball just fine. In fact, when watching his games against Team USA I'd be as bold to suggest this is one of his strengths. The difference being he'll continue to look to dish rather than look for the open shot. Some would say this is bad, but in the triangle this is actually a good thing when you have an open K-Love behind the arc and an open B-EZ around the key. If Wes Johnson develops any kind of shot at all, look out! Dangerous.

Cons:
He can't seem to shoot, granted, that's Europe, but still, his jumper is as bad as Flynn's. The reason why this is a borderline Pro rather than Con is because Rubio is unselfish! He will use this to his advantage and I wouldn't be surprised to see a solid jumper out of Rubio by the time he hits 24 years of age.

His post game is bad for the triangle. However, if Rambis uses him correctly, he will modify the system to take advantage of Rubio's vision at the top of the key and on the wings. for some reason I visualize more pick n roll with Rubio than seeing him in the post. Even K-Love recognizes this so I'm sure Rambis does.

Passing off the dribble OR off the catch is actually perfect in the triangle if you think of any other position than Point. In fact, if you can visualize the triangle as an offense that doesn't really need a true point, then it's almost perfectly suited for a guy who thinks as fast as rubio does. He doesn't have to play the role of a true point, yet, with the ball in his hands for at least 2 seconds out of a 6 to 10 second attack, you can realistically see him racking up more than 12 assists a game as long as he finds the open man on the first attempt.

There is a chance of a flop, of course, However, considering Rubio's fast play, I visualize a guy who dishes better than Fisher ever has and takes less shots than Fisher ever has. Care to explain how that's a bad thing within the triangle considering Rubio's fast play?

No browneye, clearly you just know what you've "heard" about the triangle. The very, very basic idea behind the triangle is to keep 4 open options for the player with the ball. The player with the ball can be modified to be anybody, even Rubio. The triangle is flexible and nothing is set in stone. There is always movement, but at the same time there is focus at the top of the key and the two baselines on each side of the rim. That's just triangle 101. If you want to know more study Tex Winter or even check out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangle_offense

Basically the whole thing is kicked off by the guard kicking to a wing. In the T-wolves offense the said guard can be Rubio (it was Ridnour a lot of the time last season). From there it's fast paced looking for the open look. Rubio doesn't need the ball in his hands very long. In fact, he just needs to kick it to the right guy.

Judging from his play, he will be just fine. He plays two steps ahead of everyone else making him perfect for the triangle offense. Rubio doesn't want the ball in his hands very long. he wants to find the open man then get back on D.

Go on, insult yourself with your lack of triangle knowledge shown by lack of research, understanding and content in your posts.

Definitely the first time I've heard anyone suggest Rubio isn't poorly suited to the triagle. To succeed in the offense, you need to be able to pass (check), move off the ball (no way to tell, but chances are he's not great as it's outside a role he's ever played), hit jump shots (no way), and post up (no way). So he can basically do one thing, and passing off the dribble isn't exactly the same thing as passing in the triangle, so even that isn't exactly a home run in my mind. Care to explain?

Good move T-wolves, good move David Kahn! I'm excited to see this play out! A lot of fans are.

Ricky Rubio is going to make this offense much more efficient and dangerous! His playmaking ability is amazing and perfectly suited for the triangle! He plays fast, he will find the open man and the Wolves have plenty of guys who can score, especially when somebody finds them the way Rubio will. Ricky Rubio comparisons to former players need to stop. He is who he is and he's perfect to find the offensive threats the Wolves have. He's unselfish, he plays defense... what more can you ask?

Anybody who wants to say Rubio won't fit the Triangle is insulting Rubio's intelligence and skills.
