As big of a fan as I am of Westbrook, his age/maturity really shows in games where the pressure is high. All it takes is one play for him to get frustrated, it happend game 2 when Jason Kidd stripped the ball from him and then Westbrook lost his cool. He will start making dumb fouls, stop playing like a PG and take ill advised shots. I believe this is due to him not ever having a veteran PG to learn from, the coaching or Durant need to not be afraid to speak up and put him in his place when he is acting like a child.

Everyone is turning this into a Westbrook was benches thing, but it is important to note that the whole starting lineup (besides Durant) was benched. They were playing a three guard lineup with Durant defending the center. They just finished out the game playing a lineup they almost never use. If they continue to play small, I would think Westbrook might he playing some two guard instead of Cook. Maynor deserves some serious minutes.

In my opinion, his 4 year $16 million rookie contract was already enough of a maturity test, and he's passed it. Westbrook is a gamer, with a little hollywood and a little blue-collar in him. Simply put he's not a good fit for this current series, and there's nothing wrong with that. OKC doesn't need his offense at all times like the Bulls need Rose. He'll find a way to be better from this benching.

Good background info about how he wasn't a pampered player, Westbrook is young and awesome so hopefully it's a lesson learned for his sake and he can move forward. With all that said, I bummed they took it to Dallas, the Chunder upset me, I don't like them much. I'm pouting.

Sincerely,

Bitter Sonics Fan
