Video: Proof that Carlos Boozer can dunk, did contribute

May 11, 2011, 8:52 AM EDT

Chicago Bulls' Carlos Boozer celebrates after a basket against the Atlanta Hawks during Game 5 of their NBA Eastern Conference second round playoff basketball game in Chicago Reuters

This has not been Carlos Boozer‘s best series.

Turf toe has slowed him in matchups he would struggle with healthy. But he still has some game — and when he rolled to the basket in the third quarter and got a nice bounce pass from Derrick Rose he knew what to do with it. He threw it down for the dunk of the night.

That the Bulls are this good without Boozer contributing, how good they can they be? They are going to need to do better next round against Miami.

    He can also throw elbows to Josh Smith’s face and not get ejected. Gotta love the NBA’s hometown officiating policy!

      Power forwards throwing elbows is nothing new, pal. Karl Malone made an entire career out of doing so. Boozers not even close to being in his league in that regard. It’s a function of creating space on rebounds so that those pesky guards are too intimidated to try and take the ball out of the hands of guys who aren’t exactly the best ball handlers in the league. Part of the position Boozer plays; part of the game!

      The NBA is also so hyper-sensitive these days about referee’s, the old “hometown officiating” crap has for the most part gone away, but cutting star players more slack on calls certainly hasn’t. David Stern doesn’t want to see the leagues marque players foul out early in games, and that’s also just reality. Gotta feed the TV contract beast you know!

      Even watch what happens to PGA TV ratings when Eldrick the Creep is out of the hunt on any given tournament? (I’m not sure tournament though really applies to the PGA because they incorrectly try and bill every stinking event as such). When Eldrick the Creep and Lefty are out of the hunt, millions of TV sets all over the country tune out or change channels.

    A fitting poem:

    Derrick Rose sat on a pin;
    Derrick rose!!! (LOL!)
