"Johnson and Sacramento offered a couple carrots. One was the possibility of between $7 million and $9 million in new sponsorship and other revenues."

Ok... I don't mean to be an idiot here.... but isn't that like one players salary ?

WOW ! That will make them think twice.

Ok.. having said that... The Maloofs will sue if they can't leave because if they can, they will.

GAME OVER.

Attention Kevin Johnson.
The NBA is a business, not a game.

Johnson can throw some money at the Maloofs but I don't think it can beat the deal they've been offered in Anaheim.

Last I heard, they were being offered a loan to pay off what they owe to Sacramento, a payment to cover what they'd have to pay to the NBA to relocate, the ability to sell luxury boxes in Anaheim, and the ability to negotiate a new TV deal that will likely blow the one they have in Sacramento out of the water.

I figure that the Kings will fill the same role that the Clips have for most of the past 30 years, which is "For people who want to see basketball but not pay Laker prices". Being in The Pond as opposed to the Staples Center is a plus for the kind of people who'd attend those games, IMHO, as there are a lot of people in the Valley and other outlying areas more likely to drive to Anaheim than downtown LA.

Still think people are going to drive from Anaheim to go to Lakers and Clippers games at the Staples Center... I mean... both teams are better, and it's only an hour and a half drive depending on the traffic. I know people who drive 2 hours+ in traffic to get to Nuggets games, and if by some miracle, Greely was a big market... they'd still go to Nuggets games.
