An idea emailed to me by reader Vincent that is an interesting longshot: This summer LeBron can opt out of or renegotiate his Nike shoe deal, according to reports. Recently one of Nike’s star shoe designers publicly ripped LeBron and his entourage for their lack of focus (and having too many voices in the process) when it comes to shoe design. LeBron just signed a deal where an arm of The Fenway Group will market him, and he gets to own a piece of the Liverpool Football Club. Liverpool is an Adidas team (they sponsor the jerseys). You don’t think…. Nah.

Let the building up of the Knicks by the New York media, so said team can be shredded when it loses, begin.

Ty Lawson wants the Nuggets to face the Thunder in the playoffs, “because we owe them.” Um, maybe the reason you owe them is the reason you don’t want to play them. Just sayin’.

Doug Collins has a photographic memory. Seriously. This is ridiculous.

Amar’e Stoudemire says he plays better in the playoffs — and he’s right, he is one of the few players with better playoff stats than regular season.

Tom Gores is soon to be made official as the Pistons owner, and he took in a game Monday. And got to see Charlie Villanueva go off. Lucky him.

Deron Williams had successful wrist surgery Monday.

David West is having his knee surgery today.

Michael Redd, free agent.

The final days of Rick Adelman in Houston. Apparently.

Congratulations Kurt Helin you have won the 2010-2011 NBA Knick Hater of the Year Award.

No other columnist this season has come close this season to having so many backhanded compliments, snide remarks, or just ridiculous articles like the “Nets win round 1 with D. Williams trade”. For your efforts you have now won the Knicks Hater of the Year Award.

I’d say he’s being more of a realist. The media built them up as a super franchise (well, actually that’s more what Miami did with their pre-season championship party). They finished the season 42-38….just barely above .500.
