i may be bias but i love this. out of 5 sister inlaws i have two that are affected with this genetic disorder. it has got to be one of the worst childhood diseases out. these children start their lifes out as healthy normal children hitting all their markers and living life until it slowly begins to be taken away from them. for those of you who do not know what battens disease is... to put it simply the brain lacks an enzyme that allows it to dispose of protien waste, so the waste builds up and kills the brain one cell at a time. my two sisters are 12 and 21 and over the last 6 years i have watched them slowly slip away. the average life span is early 20s but those are the lucky ones. most dont get to see their 10th birthdays. i cant say thank you enough to darko milicic for helping to bring this disease out of the shadows. another awesome/amazing individual shinning light on this disease is a young man named noah. he is curently running across the counrty to raise money and awarness for battens. you too can follow his journey through twitter @noahontherun and online at battenjourney.com please help us spread the word! if we dont have the fundings we will never find a cure. <3

I don't think anyone would disagree with me that sports today is full of self centered individuals. From lockouts, to to scandals to steroids, it seems that they don't even realize they are still playing a kids game. Something that a vast majority of us as children dreamed of becoming. I realize they train and study more than most can even compehend but the fact remains, they are playing a dream.
Then you read something like this. A selfless gesture that simply put, words can't due justice. It's wonderful acts like this that makes all the crap worth it.
