Believe it or not, Lebron has it right this time. Rose will win b/c Chicago is in first place in the Eastern Conference.
Howard is probably his equal in the MVP race, but the fact that Chicago is in first wins it for Rose.

BTW - people who don't give Tom Thibodeau his deserved credit for Chicago's rise are total idiots who have no sense of basketball.
The Bulls are 14th in offensive effeciency, and first in team defense. Anyone with a half a brain would conclude that the Bulls' success has more to do with their defense than offense. Tom Thibodeau was known as the defensive guru coming into this season. The last 2 teams he was on are now the 2 best defensive teams in the NBA. Hard to deny his genius.

Lastly, Kobe shouldn't even be in this discussion. Whenever any reporter or basketball analyst talks about the success of the Lakers in any particular game, they talk about Odom's play off the bench, Bynum's health, or the offense flowing through Pau Gasol.
To be honest, I think the Lakers have a better shot at winning the championship if Bynum was in and Bryant was injured, than the other way around. They clearly need both to win the championship, but the difference isn't too far off.

defense isnt usually that big a deal for mvp, lebrons never won defenseive player of the year, neither has kobe..

http://www.nba.com/history/awards_defensiveplayer.html
http://www.nba.com/history/awards_mvp.html

LeBron James is nowhere on the list
kobe again nowhere,
theres dirk, oh wait, nope not there either..
steve nash, nope not there either...
duncan isnt there
i dont think the words Iverson and defense even go together much.
shaq, nope.

garnetts the only one since the jordan era..
during jordans time it was way more common.

Jordan,Olajuwon,Robinson,

lebrons good no doubt, but hes not the best this year. rose wont win defenseive player of the year no doubt. but maybe next year he will work on that part of his game..
last year i always heard people talk about how great rose would be, and honestly i didnt think he would be anytiem soon. if at all. he seemed to limited , but looking back it was like he wanted to get his teammates in the game mroe then himself, now he iss takingi the jordan approach, i will get the team up to pace every game as much as i can, but in the 4th if im not happy im taking over.

i dont think the bulls coach is as good as everyone claims. cause he sure has trouble getting he team ready to play the teams that have the worst records. they lose more to those teams then other teams..

but who knows maybe next year around thsi time ill look back and give him more credit. but honestly if it wasnt for rose, if rose had the year he had last year. they would be nowhere near were they are now.

hwo many people did miami have in the allstar game? how many did boston have? so if everyone thought that the only good player on the bulls was rose, why are they doig so much better then the ones that had more players. i can understand the easts coach nepatism getting all the boston players he could, so im discounting them from thsi conversation.

at anyrate.. it is what it is. Rose deserves it. others have had great years as well, just not as good.

Sorry but Lebron killed his MVP chances this year when he took his "talents" to South Beach to join another superstar team. He's not even the overwhelming MVP of his own team.

Yes defense is important for the Bulls, but if you think that by adding a better defensive pg like Randolph, the Bulls would be on top of the East, I would say you are smoking something, and its not legal. Rose carries this team constantly, especially when Boozer and Noah missed huge amounts of games. Plus if anyone watches games PHase are the toughest to play 1 on 1 defense against, you are constantly fighting through screens. Try doing that all night and be the main and sometimes, only offense on your team.

You know what I dont understand - for the life of me?

The fact that NBA players agree Rose is the clear cut MVP.

NBA greats agree he's the MVP.

And yet, the only people who don't are either fans of opposing teams or stat geeks who only have jobs thanks to the rise of metrics in Sports.

Look, you can break down numbers all day long.

But the facts are the facts - and somehow, someway, despite everything Miami tried...this year was the year of Rose's emergence...

Pick at it all you want. Give Thibs credit for the D. Whatever. It doesn't matter. You're denigrating a great player simply because you think someone else is a more complete player.

But its not the MCP award.

It's called the MVP because your value and worth is taken into account.

And if you tell me the Bulls would be in first had they lost Rose for 6 week stretches twice, yet had Noah and Boozer for all 82...

Well, you sir, would then be a raging idiot and should be beaten for your ignorance.
