The kid is a helluva player!! Being taken at #5 was totally justified, especially since he had a great teacher in his daddy, former NBA player Stan Love who was also a very good rebounder. But, being the old man that I am, I simply cannot forget the player, whom I consider the greatest all around player of all time, who averaged a TRIPLE doubt for an entire season! Oscar Robertson! He could take the ball whenever he wanted, to any spont that he wanted, against anyone he wanted, and take and make the shot he wanted more often than anyone who ever played. It’s too bad he only got to play on a great team leate in his career. However, we cant deny Kevin Love’s talent! Barring injury, he’s gonna perform at a high level for a long time!

But of course! My bad. I agree with you totally. I forgot Rodman’s excellent D especially on big men. I was too focused on Rodman as a rebounding machine.

Nah, I rather choose Rodman’s D than Love’s point production. The NBA has a lot of scorers but not much of locked-in defenders.

Rodman…minus the defense. You won’t see Love shutting down someone like Karl Malone anytime soon. That’s the difference between contender and pretender.

But i guess you argue scoring 20+ a game makes up for not playing defense….

I’ll agree with you on the “without the excess baggage.”

To the T-Wolves? Not meaningful.

For Love? Sure. But of course. Good on his resume as other teams start taking note of that.

When he gets into a contender-team, that would certainly be doubly meaningful. He is a Dennis Rodman plus the point production without the excess baggage…

If you remember that draft absolutely no one was projecting Kevin Love for the 2nd pick. It was Rose and Beasley or Beasley and Rose. People were astounded that the Thunder took Russell Westbrook at #4 – considered totally an overreach at the time – and there was some shock that Kevin Love went at #5, but people just wrote it off as the T’wolves doing something stupid again. As a matter of fact, until this year people kept repeating that mantra.

What I’m LMAO about is that Riley could have taken Love with the 2nd pick of the draft, but instead took over hyped “What me play defense” Beasley instead! (Love went 5th overall, 3 picks later, to the T-Wolves). I find it hysterical that pompous Riley, who had a 25% lottery chance at the first overall pick in the draft, not only lost out to the Bulls on Rose (who had only a 1.7% lottery chance at the pick), and then screwed up royally by taking Beasley over Love. Bwahahahahahahaha! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Pat me boy!
