No surprise here, but it became official, Mike Bibby has signed with the Miami Heat the team announced.

“We want to welcome Mike Bibby as we continue to move into the direction of our championship dreams,” said Heat President Pat Riley. “We feel Mike, with his vast postseason experience, long range game and point guard abilities, will give us a boost in the backcourt.”

Bibby is expected to make his debut with the Heat Thursday night, but he will come off the bench for now, our own Ira Winderman tweets (for the Sun Sentinel). Mario Chalmers remains the starter.

There are questions about how much Bibby will be able to contribute, but he certainly will get a chance. He gave up a lot — more than $6 million in a Washington Wizards buyout — to make a run at a title. Say what you want about the Heat, but Bibby joins a list of other Heat players who have up more money to make a serious run at a title.

Mike Bibby is a major upgrade for the Heat. Take that as you will.

I’ve watched all the Heat games this year and I definitely like plugging Bibby in for Arroyo. Mario Chalmers has played very well on defense so I’d like to see him keep his minutes too. Lately, the Heat have only given PGs about 25 minutes so it will be interesting to see how much play these guys get.

Great move by the heat. Funny how everyone said the heat would not be able to put together a good roster after signing the big 3.

dude can’t spell defense, wait til Rose, Rondo, Jameer start blowing past him on the way to a layup.
Riles will drop him like bad suit after the season as he moves in the direction of championship dreams
