Another theory is that Shaq doesn't (or didn't) put in the offseason conditioning to prepare his body for the rigors of a long season. When you don't do that, injuries happen. Kobe notoriously criticized Shaq for not showing up in shape for training camps. Of course, that big body has been around for a long time now and can only take so much.

I do agree with you about the extent of his "injuries." It would be nice to see him suit up soon and just give them 10 minutes a night.

On another note, I'm liking the Troy Murphy pick-up if it happens. Murphy rebounds the ball well and the stretch '4' could be a headache for a lot of teams.

I love how people talk about Shaq's ''injuries." Just a theory, but I don't think the guy has EVER been injured. At least not serious enough to miss all the regular season games he's missed. I'd say more bumps, bruises and fatigue concerns than injuries. He never misses playoff games, the only "issues" with Shaq come playoff time in recent years are how he will fit as far as chemistry is concerned. With Boston, it will not be an issue like it was after his late season "break" with the Cavs last year. This is because Cleveland needed him to be a 2nd or 3rd option, Boston doesn't.

I'm not knocking him for it. I think it's a smart move so to rest him about half the season so he doesn't get a REAL injury. A body that big that has been deep in the playoffs almost every year of his career has more miles on than most. Especially considering how much more physical the playoffs are than the regular season. Also considering, in comparison to other players in the league, the beating he's taken over the years.
