Derrick Rose thrust himself into the middle of the MVP debate Thursday night dropping 42 on the San Antonio Spurs. Nobody had done that to the Spurs all season (which is why they have the best record in the NBA).

Rose came into the league with amazing athletic gifts, but he has developed a steady midrange game that needs to be respected, and he has become much better at drawing contact and getting to the free throw line (especially the last couple months).

Watch and be amazed.

Before the season I had Derom Williams locked as the best PG in the NBA, now that’s really starting to change thanks to Rose

Between this game and the Cavs-Lakers fiasco, there will certainly be some changes to the top of the Power Rankings next week.

Rose has taken a big step this year and he is only 22 years old.
Give him another couple of years to really understand the NBA game and he is going to be one of the top 5 players in the league.
He is getting close to that right now.

Damn it would have been fun to see him teamed up with Jordan and Pippen.
