I mean contractually its the same situation as those guys. All three had an option year on a contract that they decided not to pick up. They all said they would not sign an extension and wanted to be free agents. The difference is with Lebron, he had a team that at the beginning of the season had championship aspirations and a ton of cap room slated for the next season. The Cavs ended the season with a second round loss and Jamison's salary hanging around their neck. I mean those circumstances had to have changed his opinion of the future of the team and are the reason why he wanted to see the season play out before making a decision.
With Bosh again, he did not sign an extension in season but it was pretty widely known he was not going to resign with Toronto. That's just Raptor's management dropping the ball and not taking a hint. It's not Chris Bosh just leaving out of the blue.

As a Front Range resident, I used to think "What's so wrong with Denver?" We treat our stars great, its a beautiful city (area) with tons of stuff to do. Hell, even the weather is pretty great most of the time. But now I see where Melo is coming from and I totally agree with him. Silent Stanley cares more about making money off the Nuggets than he does winning. He wants to sign Melo to a max deal and then slash salary around him to stay under the salary cap and avoid the luxury tax. In two years, it'd be Melo and a bunch of nobodys. It would probably still be enough to get to the playoffs and get bounced in the first round every year, and thats fine with Stan. If I were Melo, I'd bail now too.

I really have no problem with what Anthony did -- it is way more fair than what LeBron and Bosh did. Anthony told the Nuggets last summer that he was not picking up the extra year on his deal and wanted to go to one of several teams. He didn't play out the contract then leave them with nothing, he told them his intentions early on. He does and should have the right to decide where he wants to work when his contract is up (anything short of that is unAmerican) and he told the team that in advance. That Denver has screwed up their leverage is on them, not him.

He hasn't been complaining or going on TV making a spectacle of the ordeal. He simply wants to be able to decide where he goes when his contract is up and he's not willing to give up that right. There's nothing wrong with that. Don't get me wrong, I'm sick of hearing about it too. But there really is no villain just unfortunate circumstances. You can't blame the Nuggets since they're just trying to get something for Carmelo while he's still and asset to them. And you can't blame the media because they're just reporting what they hear and that's kinda their job.
